We're not going to get recruits away from the blue bloods. For us to win in the Big Ten, Pike needs to find kids who flew under the radar and who he can develop. Geo fits that description to a T.

Seems like RHJ and Eugene fit that mold perfectly as well. Tez was a 4 star so he was a higher-level recruit, but he’s bought into his role very well.

Sorry, but in writing the following, I can't help not think of Ash and his ballyhooed 'plan'. Unlike Ash, not only did Pike have prior head coaching experiences, but I think a MUCH better understanding of the realities of building a 'culture of success' at Rutgers.

PHASE 1A: Culture

Instead of erasing Rutgers' past, embrace it! Seems to me that Pike's infectious enthusiasm made cultivating an underdog mentality relatively easy. Translated: Establish a gritty, defense-first identity, with consistent focus on fundamentals and teamwork.

PHASE 1B: Recruit under-the-radar guys like Geo, with length, sufficient athleticism, a high basketball IQ, AND the willingness to be a selfless piece of a very purposely shaped team.

PHASE 1C: Close the competitive gap...and WIN. The more heralded recruits will follow, though only those who buy-in.

PHASE 2: Call it whatever you want...The Scarlet Shangri-La...Rockafeller Road Holy Grail...

Times are a changin'!

I disagree. At first we won't but recruiting has ALREADY picked up with Doucoure Mathis Harper Young all 4 stars and Mulcahey I'll say picks up a 4th too with another scholarship to go. Imagine how well he can recruit once we start winning? I truly believe that the sky is the limit for Pike at Rutgers

During the broadcast one of the commentators stated that "Geo was #414 recruits in that year's recruiting class..." Pikiell found his diamond in the rough. Geo plays like a seasoned vet with lots of confidence. He is more like a 4+ star player.
