Girl's family sues to let her play with the boys BB team; school expels family

In Monmouth County, Henry Hudson HS in Highlands has no FB team. Boys from HH who want to play FB play for Keyport HS. This has been going on for a very long time when a school doesn't have a team in a certain sport. The girl could have played for another school's team while still attending her present hs.

But her parents probably effed that up when they hassled the school.

Are attorneys who work for the Catholic Church necessarily Catholic? It would appear to be the ultimate conflict of interest for someone who chooses to live in a secular country such as ours.

There are two Catholic grammar schools in Union, and others in Springfield, Roselle, Cranford and Westfield that are nearby Kenilworth where she now attends school. Some of them surely have girls bb at the other schools. If the girl is a good player there would be a spot for her on those teams.

Unless her parents won't accept this option and let St Theresa's know that.

Your line is that we should stop the over achievers so that the under achievers can't take advantage. Makes ton of sense. Being part of the special Olympics is something to be proud of.

So ill ask again because you haven't answered the question yet. Should boys be allowed to play on a girls team if there isn't a boys team available in that sport? New Jersey rules allow high school girls to play on a boys team if the school doesn't offer it. What about Boys? Should this rule apply?

Btw, if the kid is that good she's playing on a top travel team playing better competition than her middle school team would be.
That's a moot point because that situation doesn't exist. Boys are much more likely to be brought up playing sports instead of encouraged to play dress up and so there is no shortage of boys to field a basketball team. The only reason basketball is even split between boys and girls is because there is typically enough people to field both and since there is generally a gap in physical ability it makes sense to split them up. When there is no split such as in swimming and wrestling it becomes a coed sport. I see no reason for them not to apply it here.

And the whole "just move and go to another school" is complete bullshit. Is it crazy for a family not to want to have to move or have their kids go to another school and make new friends due to a bullshit rule?

The family is paying to go to a private school. No one is forcing them to move. They can go ahead and choose another private school or go to public school. That's kind of where the bullshit rule that you refer to isn't bullshit.

I understand how private schools work. I am employed in one. Once again it's not easy to move your kids to another school. They have friends, relationships with teachers, a comfort level, etc. Just because they have the option to go elsewhere doesn't mean the school isn't doing the wrong thing here. The family shouldn't have to send her to another school just so she can play basketball. The school is making a mountain out of a molehill.
