Got Kicked Out of the Game Last Night

The PSU fans I met were all nice and gracious towards me and my other RU friends. The only "issues" we had were with students and your common student nonsense.......

Next time you're in that situation, if you turn away from the guy and walk away, saying something nice, I guarantee you a number of Penn State fans will help you, and move the idiot along. Generally speaking, I have faith in people.

Fan in front of me called my younger brother a p**sy under his breath. Didn't confront the guy because I wasn't going to deal with that bs all game.

Look, they're nice when they're winning and in the beginning of the game because they're dismissive towards Rutgers football.

They're all closet douches.

Interesting.

I have found that fan bases like/tolerate opponent fans knowing that they will win the game.Where there is a real rivalry the animosity is more profound.
+1. Always been treated real well at away games when we're expected to get thumped, Tennessee, MSU and especially Nebraska stand out. Games that stand to be close or are close to home, UConn and Syracuse, often seemed dicier. The exception . . . wait for it . . . WVU. Same miserable pricks in '02, '06 and '10.

Interesting.

I shouldn't say all. Obviously there were some very nice people that were welcoming. It's similar to all fan bases, including Rutgers.

I did find the place to be very very weird though. Lots of very odd people.

what I get from this is psu fan 40 and up are human and very nice
Fans 18-25 are.......... expletives deleted
Could be true anywhere. But my son took a month summer course there and the students on campus are not immune to drinking too much or loudly showing off for their friends

But I don't think its Rutgers specific . That attitude could have been in place for anyone

That can happen here too though, no?

Kyk

Opposite of my experience. There fans were nothing but fine to us

Same as my 8 other ru-PSU road trips to state college over last 30 years plus
Agree, we didn't have an issue with the fans but the parking and event staff were not helpful. With the exception of the ticket window person who changed our ticket to disabled seating.

I had an amazing time. Every single PSU fan we spoke to was awesome. In the lot, they all invited us to talk or share a drink or a snack. After the game at Saloon, we hung out with so many cool people. They shook our hand,, put their arms around us, and danced with us. This was easily my favorite tailgate of my life because they were so cordial. I must have run into a different group of people.

I had a great time also, though for a while at our tailgate the red shirts outnumbered the white shirts and we had a group of PSU police watching us.

Most of us were over 50 and the only thing we would have fought over was who brought the better beer.

I got a little ribbing from sone students/young alumni which is to be expected. Otherwise had a great time (other than the game) -- same as my last trip 20+ years ago. Great company, great tailgate, game was a disappointment.

You act like you actually play for the team on these boards. I'm not surprised you had an issue.

I can't wait to go back. I had such a good time. For all the hate we've given them anyone wearing a red shirt probably deserved zero hospitality but we received the opposite.

It's true every crowd has its jerks but last night the worst behaved people were wearing red.

Rutgers has a long way to go in the class department when compared to PSU. The students I talked to were some of the nicest students I've talked with from opposing teams.

Kyk you seem to.be in the heart of problems
First you commented on Carroo's situation and what you seemed to know and now this. I take it you are a student who basically has his nose everywhere it might not be appropriate. Learn a lesson early on...when you are in someone else's home territory it is often best to keep a low or lower profile.

OP is just frustrated he has to pay out thousands of dollars in bets he will lose cause he swore to everyone on this board and TMB that RU would easily win 5 or more games.

for all the psu fans that gave us crap for how we treated their fans, **** them. There were certainly some nice older people who welcomed us but most fans 50 and below were just douche bags.

At half I went down to the concourse to get food and had multiple penn state fans jump in my face and confront me. So I had enough and tossed one against the handrail and got swarmed by security.

I really dislike that school, and fanbase. I will be making their lives a living hell next year.

I hope that anyone from Rutgers was treated nicely and with respect and hospitality. We are all human beings and should be nice and kind to each other. Football is a game...and so I hope that anyone traveling to happy valley enjoyed themselves.

I really liked your acting head coach. He seems like a great guy. I liked his comments prior to the game. Best of luck moving forward.

I've been telling you guys for 3 years now that Beaver is a f*cking shithole filled with douche bags. Maybe someday people will start listening to me. Now, that being said, you can't go attacking another fan and NOT expect to get kicked out.

I have to say everyone I encountered was incredibly hospitable and welcoming before, during and after the game. I was walking back and forth all day between 2 tailgates, sometimes alone and I had many people walk up to me, shake my hand and say good luck or welcome to Happy Valley or enjoy the game. The only negative thing was I had a girl throw a peanut at me as I walked by, not a big deal.

Not one issue at all last night. People treated us well. Besides one 'Buttgers' comment all other interactions with their fans were them welcoming us out there,.

Were you at our tailgate with the pop up camper converted into a tiki bar?

Was it the girl from your avatar?

Back when I was a stripper, girls used to throw peanuts at me all the time. Now that I'm middle-aged, they throw pimentos instead. I think they might be trying to tell me something.

My group was treated very well...we spent some time in PSU players parents tailgate
and got a furrowed brow or two with red that quickly smoothed over..after that went to
Orange lot for our own and had a very good time

I enjoyed the atmosphere until weather took a turn...would go again for sure

as far as the game and near future...as Bob Murphy used to say "RU (Mets) are facing 9 miles of bad road"...

They're just watching out for your health.

I went to the game at Rutgers last year, had a fine time, 1 or 2 ignorant people but generally a good group. Had no issues yesterday with any RU guys either. I dont remember seeing or hearing of this until today as well.

Of course maybe you were the guy on the guy on the bus to the stadium last year who asked a group of us PSU fans about our sexual preferences because everyone who likes PSU likes young boys according to you. If so then I'm sure you instigated the situation, Thankfully I understand you are nothing like the rest of your fan base.

The jackass OP got 73 responses to this thread - including me - which, I'm sure, is exactly what he wanted.

Guys like this in ALL fan bases. Probably a good thing he was removed from the stadium before anything serious happened later.

I remember what I was like when I was under 25, so it's not like being a jackass in this regards is a permanent condition

For what it is worth I attended the game at Rutgers last year and I had no problems, My experience is, if you invade the other guys turf looking for trouble, you will have no problem finding it, Although, I didn't appreciate the 2 hour wait for a bus to my car after the game. I hope things get better for your team. I hate to see kids who for the most part are trying to do the right thing denigrated, The MSM is ruthless and looking for sensationalism........we have experience there, let me tell you, Also, kudos to your interim coach, who put the Jersey fan boy press in their place. Hope everyone enjoyed the visit, except for the game itself!

I know what you're saying, but, I do know some 60 year olds who are still "always the victim".

I just know a lot of people. As i posted i was minding my own business when someone got in my fave because i was wearing red. But i guess it's my fault. You guys are a special special bunch.

We were there from 2:30 to the end of the game, no issues, people were great.

Glad to hear you had a ok time despite the outcome of the game.
I was there from about 4:00 to 6:30 until I got to my seat in NEU and everyone seemed to be having a good time and I mean both RU fans and PSU fans. I saw a ton of RU fans at PSU tailgates and just walking down the street and saw nothing bad.

Nahhh most of us are like that.

To everyone who came out to Beaver Stadium, hope you had a great time. Like all fans, we're very proud of our university and game day experience...unfortunately this experience ALWAYS includes a few bad/drunk apples, and if what the OP posted really happened (and many of your fellow fans seem to have doubts as to its accuracy), then as an alumnus of Dear Old State, please accept my humblest apology.

Best of luck to the Rutgers program the rest of the season.
