Grad Transfer Ehab Amin visiting tomorrow

Originally, He narrowed his list to Miami, Nevada and Wichita State before selecting Nevada. Arizona was one of the teams in pursuit that did not make his final 3.

Nevada pulled the Scholly when the Martin Twins decided to forego NBA Draft and return for their final yr of eligibility
Didn't pull the scholarship, they no longer had the room they thought they might have for another scholarship player. Big difference.

Despite testing the waters the Martin twins were still on scholarship. Amin knew what was up when he decided to transfer there last month. That kid must have really wanted to be at Nevada to roll the dice with such low chances.

That’s because your not really great at judging basketball talent. No offense.
Ehh id disagree. Definitely not good at projecting outward potentially with kids like eugene i will agree. I dont think anyone sincerely thought eugene would be as good today after watching him struggle to dribble and make layups his freshman year.

This kids a different story though, not like hes a raw freshman whos played ball for 3 years. This kid has been in college for 4. Again im making a quick snap judgement off a few minutes of highlights but if those schools want him, must be good.

I play fairly often with high major kids like jahvon quinerly and luther muhammad

Not really. Baker is really a 2 - too much of a scorer and doesn't have the quickness you'd like at the point.
Not sure if ive ever agreed with you but i agree here. Geo is your ideal 2. Doesnt have the quickness you look for in a true pg. hes best served off the ball

This a player that everyone will be super excited about, then when he looks for the extra pass- everyone will start to complain that he was wide open and should have taken the shot. This would be a much better get then say Hyatt because of maturity and lack of a true point on the team.

I like how he finishes strong going to his left. Looks very similar in his offensive game to Baker from those brief clips, which is not a bad thing.

You've never agree with me? And I always thought you were pretty smart - LOL

I think too much is being made of 1 guard vs 2. It’s so muc mix and match—who brings ball up, who brings bal up vs pressure, who runs half court offense, who can pull up, who can pull up then dish.

Nice..another big guard and with experience who seems to be a defense oriented kid..Experience here could help with our young team..would seem to be a very nice get for us..hope the visit goes well.

Agreed. As long as the freshmen wings/guards in the mix understand that this is a transition/acclimation year for them and all have the team first attitude they seem to, then a veteran presence lime this would be huge

I trust Pikiell here..................

HOWEVER....There is a part of me that wonders/hopes that he does something that others on the roster can't do. You can only play so many combo guards. I realize the tape was probably not put together by him, but I'd like to see a pass and am not a fan of flexing after every basket.

Probably a great transition guy.

looking at his kenpom page....

as a JR 42-141 .298 from 3
his last 5 games block #s 3,6,7,2,5. 23 blocks in 5 games?
he is listed as a PF
kenpom compared him to Iman Shumpert

strange player...may be different than anyone else on our roster. probably used to guarding Southland conference 4s

Yeah... We're becoming the home of the really hard working combo guard. Nice in theory, and will probably make a lot of other back courts work their buts off, but there do seem to be a lot of similar guys.

That being said, most seem like theoretical upgrades over our under-sized hard working combo guard, Mike Williams, who was hard not to love. If they all play that hard, but are bigger, shoot better and can do a little more of B1G level handling/passing, maybe it will work?

Exactly..pikiell did not seem worried and has called Baker a solid point guard (which he is..he just happens to be a solid shooting guard as well). He will find a way to foster a passing game through multiple guys..it won't all go through one guy like if mulcahy were here. McConnell is a combo guard..not simply a shooting guard. We will be able to facilitate some passing with Johnson who has a strength for knowing how to dish out a few assists.

Actually found an article from February that said he was 50% and hoped to be ready by the start of ‘18-19 season. Don’t like the sounds of that.

I'm actually fine with it...it's not a must have recruit....it's insurance against an injury and a 1 season rental......there's more potential value if the player is healthy but not a deal breaker if he isn't.

Based on surgery in the November, his rehab probably started shortly before February..maybe January....so being at 50% that soon after surgery is probably not bad. The real and quick recovery happens when he can start to run in water and lift to rebuild the strength of the muscles.

I would be concerned if he was 50% in July...probably not a few months after surgery.

I said Eugene would be Draymond Lite before the season started. Tooting my own horn.

You were more excited about it yesterday...

It's a no downside item....he comes to RU and plays well, great, we have more depth and buys time for the younger guards....if he doesn't , we play the younger guards and they learn on the job quicker, which helps 2019-2020 in experience and talent.

There's no downside to this IMO....even if he's not 100% today, he's going to be an asset to someone's program this year, might as well be RU...

What about Hyatt if he reclassified? Is there a downside then?

Hyatt is injured and status uncertain at this time, which includes reclassifying etc....the longer this goes, it's less likely he reclassifies back to 2018...that includes Pittsburgh, who supposedly leads for Hyatt but may just wait until 2019 if he's not 100% able to go this summer. No one knows extent of injury hence his recruitment has gone dark....LSU, FSU and others that were supposed to be involved, have filled their spots for 2018.

Hoping that see an update on this kids visit yesterday. We could really use him this year
