***Grad Transfer Ross Taylor Douglas commits to Rutgers***

Any analysis from Michigan fans yet?

I know a bit about him since he is from Avon originally and was a PSU commit. As stated earlier here, R250, 4* DB coming out of HS. Went to Michigan and couldn't find anywhere to make an impact. I believe he was listed at DB, RB and WR throughout his career. I know we all love grad transfers but I wouldn't get too excited - Michigan processed him. Never know though.

BTW, I got real excited about a grad transfer OL from Stanford last year who never saw the field at Stanford. He never saw the field at Penn State either.

Well, aren't you just a little piece of sunshine sent to brighten our day. Welcome!

Sorry, not trying to be a downer. I think anyone could look at his Michigan profile and Harbaugh's actions over the last month and pretty much come to the same conclusion. Like I said though, you never know.

Oklahoma is getting Geno Lewis as a grad transfer and he could work out really well for them.

I think some of you interpreted the early posts wrong.
EE = early enrollee, not electrical engineer
That is why the Early Enrollment meant 3 1/2 years to graduate

The Rutgers 2-deep at DB looks just a little, uh, different than UMich's. He should start or be the slot DB and be a stabilizing influence. Moore adds some nice size and depth at DE. Need a couple more grads -- S and LB. A WR probably would see some time too.

This is cool a kid from my neck of the woods maybe I'll see someone else sporting the block R out here...

If RU were able to snag another worthwhile grad transfer, I'd like to see (1) LB or (2) WR.

Where you at? If you follow Cleveland HS football, Ross was part of a really good Avon team that played in the state finals.

Well I now live in Amherst... Same county and familiar with the Avon run.... Lineman Joe Savoy from the late 80's I think runs an insurance company out here too. Waiting to see an R!

Sorry to bring this back to the front but I just had lunch today with a good friend of mine, who happens to be his father. He told me Ross was going to be playing at Rutgers so I just wanted to tell you guys that you got a very good young man in Ross. Very glad he picked you guys over sPitt.

I actually sort of agree with kjb here. Fans seem to always cling onto stars rating coming out of HS, not realizing among transfer players that their success or lack of it in college is an important data point that in reality trumps however they were viewed coming out of HS. That said, RU really lacks DB depth, and my hope for Douglas is not that he starts over Austin or Wharton, but provides some quality depth, the type where we don't need a walk on safety to cover slot receivers. Austin definitely has the highest ceiling among our CBs (not counting in the incoming Hayes, have not seen enough of him), hope that Blessuan starts for the next 3 years.

kjb - where do you see your boy Mangiro being drafted in April? Just curious, I remember you saying that you liked him more than Donovan Smith.

Stanford grad was brought on board for APR reasons ;-)

haha - Mangiro isn't going to be drafted. I don't know if I said I liked him more than Smith because Donovan had a lot more natural attributes over Angelo. I may have though as Donovan underperformed at PSU IMO. He was said to be a little overweight and not that hard a worker. He's in the show now so that's all that matters I suppose.
