Grant and Lambert - Out for the Season

The worst part about Grant that I haven't seen anyone mention is that the Iowa player totally launches his arm at his head to make the play. Not sure how this doesn't warrant further action.

HUH? He's chasing Grant down, trying to make a play, nothing wrong with what he did there. Just an unfortunate incident as he stepped on Grant's ankle.

Hopefully Grant has someone in to talk about life after the game. The game that for most players last 3-4 years.

Education should always be first. I know it is hard to convince kids of this, but seriously. Who knows what happens to Grant now.

I wish the best for him.

This is just devastating news. Hopefully they can get waivers for medical red shirts.

This really takes the air out of this season.

Can't believe Grant is out for the season .. it's literally worse nightmare scenario.

Any shot at a medical redshirt for either? Grant didn't redshirt his true freshman year. Will that make a difference?

Well, it is devastating for these two young players. You have to feel for them especially since they were playing so well and were having the type of season that might very well have had them playing on Sundays next year. For RU this year it is next man up. The next two games are games we were not really going to win anyway so whoever the replacements are they will get these two games to learn their roles. The coaches also get these two games to re - scheme, so to speak, to see what works. We will see how it shakes out but as of now it feels real bad. I hope things work out for both of them.

Unfortunately he is not eligible to receive one. His RU career, along with Lambert and Maybe Hamilton are done.

Unfortunately you lose eligibility for a waiver if you play either 3 games or 30% of the season (whichever is greater). And this was the 4th game.

This is a part of football, sadly.

Team can't feel sorry for itself...hopefully this just gets them more motivated.

Get well soon to both players.

As I stated elsewhere - unfortunately - our lack of quality depth is going to start rearing its ugly head (even more). Many of us never expected much to begin with this year, with quality depth at most position groups being one of the reasons, so I'm not going to get myself too uptight about how it will affect the team itself going forward. It is what it is right now and a damn shame for these 2.

No clothesline launched like a club, likely no injury

Sorry, it wasn't a dirty play, he's simply trying to knock the ball out of Grant's hands instead of tackling him. As he does that he accidentally steps on Grant. That's all.

This is really beyond unfortunate. -Was hoping for the best here, but somehow knew the injury was going to be the end of Grant's season.

The irony is that he was injured after one of his most spectacular plays, (although with Grant, I think "spectacular" is something we've all come to expect). It was a moment of elation that instantly turned into something tragic.

Have no idea what the future holds for Janarion, whether he'll be eligible to return next year, and even if he is, whether he'll want to or he'll choose instead to attempt to go pro. -But one thing I do know for certain is that players with JG's gifts and abilities don't come along too often. He truly was/is that special.

There are comments on NJ.com regarding a potential Hamilton injury. Anyone have any info on that? Don't recall his name called for an injury yesterday.

I believe he was injured on a chop block call. He came off the field limping and was immediately looked at.

Nuts, I agree with you completely on the personal level for these two players. The team however does have to move forward. They have no choice. at least they have these next two games to try and work something out before some potentially winable games show up on the schedule, that's all I was saying.

Looked borderline dirty to me. Not sure if its illegal but it looked like he went for the head out of sheer desperation.

Injuries are part of football. It is amazing anyone makes it through an entire season without getting hurt.

This is a brutal sport where your objective is to knock the other person out.

Did you see the brutal tackle by the Penn State player during the Michigan game? If he had come up a little, he would have decapitated the player. And that was a legal hit. This is a crazy sport.

You are beyond reprehensible.

Not saying the act of stepping on ankle was... The act of going for a clothesline at head level and winding up where he made contact with Grants head

I agree it was desperation and don't think t was purposeful

The stepping on the ankle may never happen though if he tries to make a legal tackle

Excuse me? Based on what, exactly? Speaking the truth? Sorry but facts are facts. Our previous regime did a so-so-to-horrible job of recruiting, for 4 ears, and it's going to take some time for our depth to bounce back. Multiple injuries to starters in a single game, like yesterday, is a potentially huge problem for this team, unfortunately, not really sure what about discussing these facts is so "reprehensible." Unreal.
