Corey and Mike Williams were in studio at the B1G Media Day.

Coach Jay Young said growing up you probably had people telling you what you wanted to hear, I am here to tell you what you need to hear.

Also great interview with Coach Pikes in studio. A lot of talk about defense.

I am optomistic.

That's awesome!!! This mentality is exactly what will make this program successful in the future.

Pike has said that the starters will be the guys who play the best defense and who are the best rebounders.

Imagine a college coach emphasizing defense and rebounding!

Also there was so much talk about the energy of the coaching staff and how it is contagious.

And coach talked about developing the players often and how this staff has a history of doing just that. Bringing in guys that might have had a flaw or two in their game that kept the "big" schools away, but this staff has developed those types of players to become conference player of the year types.

Pikell has some Bob Wenzel in him; personalty wise which is a great thing. Bob was very likable

Love Wenz.He was my coach many years ago in a league in Highland Park. Lou Goetz and Charlie Eibler preceded and followed him . All great guys.

Let's see it on the court when the games count.

It was a UCONN standard under Calhoun that if you didn't defend hard in practice you wouldn't play in games. Everything we've learned about Pikiell from his time at Stoney Brook and what he's been saying in his time here suggests that he shares that philosophy.

It doesn't change the talent we have. But it's just what the doctor ordered coming out of the Jordan era. Amped up defense and more aggressive rebounding is probably worth about 8ppg to this team.
