What? They formally announced the hiring with a long release:I think the reaction of many when DM left was naivety that he was more important to the program than reality. The reality after seeing Ash hire Kill is that Ash is a respected up and coming coach who established veterans have no issues partnering with. None of our coaches are really indispensable.
At this point I have my opinions about what happened with Ash and DM and they really haven't wavered. The fact that there is still no real announcement out of Texas and the first words out of Ash's mouth were that he was looking for experiance seem to support my view.
My question is IF this was all about DM going to be with his super close pal IN Texas then why didn't he go to Houston with him prior..(I think Houston is part of Texas, right?)
Just feels like water found its own level and all's good with that here...Ash just made some chicken salad.

.
well that was stupid of me , huh. I didn't even realize that. but that doesn't really change the thought. If he really just wanted to be in Texas with Herman then why didn't he just stay there.Um... He was the WR coach at Houston.
Looks like 1984 trying to send out fake news to fit his anti ash agenda. Never gets old with this guy.
1.
No need to look too far into this. Rutgers will lose assistants, as do all programs. For Mehringer, he was in over his head, he knew it, and he found a place where he could save face, continue his career, and be part of a top (perceived) program. He made the choice that he felt was best for him.
1. Not nudged out.
2. Could have stayed, no issues.
3. Many plsyers were upset he left, not just because they liked him, but because they wanted continuity. Those kids will adjust, and most will undoubtedly like Kill, who is a players coach.

If it was obvious he was in over his head, why wouldn't he be nudged out? I guess in the end it doesn't matter, seems like a win-win to me.1. Not nudged out.

This one post made my annual subscription worth it, right there

My suspicion is that he wasn't nudged out, but that Ash didn't try and block the door either. 'So Drew, you are thinking of joining Herman at Texas...huh...if you think it is best, maybe you should go'.If it was obvious he was in over his head, why wouldn't he be nudged out? This part we now is not true. Mehringer's admitted during the press conference after the Iowa game that it was Gio was pushed on him by Ash based on how he looked on the scout team. DM admitted that he was never really considering Gio. He was was more than willing to continue on with Laviano and the Freshman. Based on that, it is probably fair to speculate that the RB decisions could have been made by DM or DM and Kur.What? They formally announced the hiring with a long release:

Enough of the Mehringer bashing people. He didn't decide to not play Hicks & Martin which would've made a difference. He also didn't decided to not play others. Let it go already & move on.
Nah. Ash decided not to play Hicks & Martin, among others, but nice try. This part we now is not true. The other interview that he did were someone asked him about whether he looked at any prior year tape on the players to see what they did well was pretty damning IMHO also.. He responded that no he did not watch prior year film and he did not care what they did in the past. That response shows shows arrogance and ineptitude to me.
Again, you don't know either. It's speculation, but I find it hard to believe that the OC does not get to play the guys that he believes give him the best chance. Ash was not an offensive guy. We are both speculating here, but nice try pretending that you know for certain.Nah. Ash decided not to play Hicks & Martin, among others, but nice try.

This. Do people really think that the HC doesn't make personnel decisions? Could you imagine Kiffin telling Saban that so & so isn't playing. How about any other coaches in America? SillyThe headcoach ultimately decides who plays.
Wrong. Quit while you're ahead. I'm not going to post any further details but others have posted some. Here we go again:
- Martin was injured up until the week of the PSU game
- Hicks couldn't pass block. Plain and simple.
