Guess We Still have 1 Game to Fill Next Year

It doesn't even soften my stool. Seriously, Coastal Carolina beat Monmouth by 30 points or there abouts. I'd rather sit through a MEAC scrimmage knowing we'll at least see a great halftime show from their band. As for the Monmouth matchup against CMU, that's CMU's issue, not ours.

As for Sagarin, Michigan came in 60, Maryland 50 and Penn State 46. I'm sure Sagarin uses all types of mathematical equations, of which I put little stock in. We were better than Michigan and Maryland as we beat them on the field of play. As for Penn State, at best it was a push and they were ranked 16 spots ahead of us. I'll stick with the Iowa Straw Poll.

Last year we beat Michigan, Maryland and North Carolina and this year you want to take it up a notch by playing Monmouth?
Sagarin is insightful enough to know that college football is not a one game season, and that teams are not fully measured by considering their play against Rutgers.

Rutgers 8 wins. Michigan 5 wins. Rutgers beats Michigan. Rutgers wins bowl game. Michigan no where to be found during the holiday. Michigan has higher Sagarin rating. There's your insight.

That's not the vibe I got at all. He went out of his way to say it's an agreement and not a rule. There is no punishment for not following the rule and existing contracts would be looked at case by case. Like I said previous, if B1G isn't going to give us 4 million to get out of these games than we are playing them.

you certainly could be right...

but, his exact quote was: "It’s really a commitment to FBS. I imagine if someone had a contractual issue we’d take a look at that. But this is the template that everybody thinks is best going forward from a variety of perspectives.”

"we'll take a look" isn't exactly "we fully support and will allow"

One OOC game that Rutgers should play every year is versus Temple.
Games against Temple are nice for Rutgers to have when at home and when away at the Linc, a few miles from South Jersey.

A lot of good D1 football players live within a 2-hour drive from the Linc and Rutgers has to recruit well in that area to be successful in the B1G.
I agree, but for the additional reason that Philadelphia is the 5th largest TV market in the US and doesn't have a P5 team.

The B1G should have RU, MD and PSU rotate playing Temple so that Temple is always playing a B1G team OOC and a B1G team should be playing at the Linc every 2-3 years at least.

No expert here on Sagarin. Not much separating #60 Michigan and #62 Rutgers. Michigan played a tougher schedule according to Sagarin, and Michigan beat a team that beat us on our home field (TFTFP) as well as losing to Ohio State and Michigan State without getting bulldozed.

They also lost to Maryland at home who we beat on the road.

Michigan State bulldozed them. That game was over as quick as our game.

Their OOC schedule was tougher solely due to Notre Dame vs. our MEAC game. Washington State beat Utah at Uteland, however, certainly Utah was a tougher opponent than Washington State, although our game was on the West Coast and Michigan got destroyed by Utah at home.

Our B1G West games were tougher, playing the West winner and a healthy Ameer vs. them playing Northwestern, a team that also did not make a bowl. One can argue either way on the scheduling although I probably give them a tougher schedule by a small margin.

That doesn't make up for their total of 5 wins.

Rutgers and Penn State could both consider playing Temple every year. But, I think that Maryland might be better served by playing teams like Navy, Virginia, Virginia Tech or Old Dominion.

It's important for programs like Maryland and Rutgers to maintain their presence on the East Coast.

West Virginia will struggle over time due to being a lone wolf.

If it softens the thought of playing Monmouth, Wagner plays at Rice and BYU this season. And Monmouth plays at Div-1 Central Michigan and hosts Div-1AA Coastal Carolina, who finished as Sagarin's 68th ranked team, 6 notches below #62 Rutgers.

Monmouth and Coastal Carolina are in the same conference so of course they play them. Apples and Oranges.

You left out its an agreement and not a rule as well as there is no punishment.

I like the New Mexico game since it is really a totally different opponent than we are used to seeing. With the potential of increased injury from the style of play by Army and Navy, I prefer to see a more traditional school instead.

New Mexico is a triple option team similar to the Academies. Kinda ironic given your concern.
