Anyone know if he is in fact announcing this week? RU target. Some retweeting going on between him and Geo Baker. Also saw that Gueye visited UAB this weekend.

much rather land this kid than Alvarado....has he had an official visit to RU....???

I know he had an unofficial earlier to RU.

Interesting. According to 247 sports warm status for RU Monmouth Old Dominion and UAB. Has cooled on UConn Creigton DePaul Florida Howard Marquette VCU and UTEP 12 total offers 3* 6'9 looks like he would be a nice get for us!!

Great stuff. A power forward is a game changer. Thinking about what the team would look like with Baker, Thiam, Gueye, Doorson.

Very exciting.

I think Thiam eventually becomes a Small forward.Who knows.

I agree I would rather have this kid than Alvarado. We lose both our power forwards after the 2017 season it would be real nice to replace them with a kid who has a year of college experience under his belt. And there are plenty of guards to be found later on in 2018.

Point guards are all over when you are in the NBA. A new class comes in each year. They are a little harder to find in the NCAA, but still, our staff will find one. They are out there.

Met Pikiell yesterday. I think he is the person to lead the program to new places. He understands his job duties, and is seemingly exceeding them.

Official visits are limited and the school can throw out the red carpet and pick up the tab. I think kids are allowed five official visits so usually its a sign of their level of interest. Unofficials are unlimited and what the school can pay for is very limited.

Where is he from? My sense about unofficial visits is that players take them to nearby schools that they get to easily and often and save their official visits for more distant schools so they can get a paid-for trip out of them. But I could be wrong about that. In football, we seem to get a lot of unofficials from NJ-NY-eastern PA guys, not so many from further away.

He could commit and then take an official and that might happen more in basketball than football with the early signing period. I think geography does play into it to some extent although I would think most kids take an official to the school they sign with.

I believe Gueye was at The Winchedon School in Massachusetts when he took the unofficial. He has since transferred to Aspire Academy in Arizona.

Thanks. Those both sound like private schools so I'm wondering where his family actually lives. Possibly in NJ or nearby?

I don't follow recruiting. We have not had a true 4 year point guard forever (Farmer is debatable, and I may argue his am a true PG). Not an accident.

maybe Alvarado isn't great, but lets not fool ourselves that point guards are a dime a dozen. Our program's performance on the court can be primarily explained by the lack of a point guard.

Agree

Trying to be hopeful reading between the lines....

Yesterday:retweeted a Geo Baker tweet
9/15:retweeted that Assane Ndaiye got an RU offer
9/14:Congratulated Joel Brown on getting an RU offer

Alot of chatter going by way of RU

Well done deciphering all that. Power forwards can change the game. I believe they are the highest paid player at the moment in the NBA. Power forwards and small forwards.

It would be a sweet get for sure. Do we know who we are looking at for point guards yet?Still a 2017 kid or next class?Johnson can most likely transition to point if Sanders leaves.

I would agree with Richie here...not nearly as optimistic about Gueye as I was Alvarado, and we all know how that worked out.

Even if he does commit, expect RU to remain active in recruiting.even accept additional commitments for 2017

Got to like staff's relentless approach knowing we will eventually hit on a recruit(s).... no licking wounds after missing out on Alvarado

He is Senegalese. He would fit in perfectly on this roster. Is this why a recruit commits? Nope but it don't hurt.

My best friend that I've known since a kid growing up and is a major benefactor for Rutgers ( and Alum) recently met Pikiell and had nothing but great things to say about him. He said Pikiell asked to be addressed as Steve and not coach. Very genuinely decent guy committed to turning around this program.

Webb, Farmer, Mack, Seagears, Beatty....

Our program's performance on the court can be primarily explained by the lack of a good head coach for over a decade now.

Hope that Coach Flood never reads that!

Flood would likely be puzzled -
"Pikiell asked to be addressed as Steve and not coach" then people say "Very genuinely decent guy committed to turning around this program".

Flood stands on steps of the Princeton library and says " call me Steve" and - ends up fired ...

That is hilarious. I don't even like all the flood bashing, but that's good.

Webb played PG for 1 year, Mack was not a true PG, Seagears wasn't 4 years and Beatty 2.

Farmer was a 1.5 in my book.....maybe 1.25

Webb, Farmer, Mack, Seagears (who I loathed) vs. Hill, Rice, Eddie.....where do you think we worse, PG or HC? That was my only point as I certainly don't believe our PG's were very good or even good. But HC has been a disaster since 06-07.

My main point was that true PG are and were real hard to find. Our lack of PGs is because the bad coach couldn't get one.

It seems like our most enjoyable season I awhile came with Beatty as a senior PG (albeit only 2 with RU).

Louisville coaches have been out to see him twice this month but I don't think that they have offered him yet.
