Halftime Show Review

Not at all. Just remember not to cry foul when someone else does something that doesn't align with your views. That's the real issue for me, I don't care what social message cold play or Beyoncé want to project during their performance. However, when someone with differing views does something Twitter goes crazy and demands he be fired and reprimanded. You guys can't want freedom of expression and free speech simply when it fits your narrative.

And this, RIGHT HERE, is the difference between left and right in a nutshell: you guys get angry when someone promotes a vision of INCLUSION while those on the left get upset when someone promotes a vision of exclusion and demonization.

Thanks for making it so clear!

Was it harmful to anyone? If the answer is "no", and it is, then it was in fact innocuous.

I'll bet two groups of people noticed: gays and angry social conservatives looking for something to complain about. The message was meant for the former and presented no harm whatsoever to the latter. Everyone else didn't notice or didn't care.
Yea most of the people just looked and liked the pretty cards in the audience. You can't be this dumb........

Yeah, because everyone has nothing better to do on Super Bowl Sunday than stare at the screen and analyze every last detail of the halftime show. read: not everyone is as bored and angry as you are.

Still waiting on your explanation of how it harmed a single living soul.

Actually it's the exact opposite. For you, inclusion is defined by agreeing with your views and principles. Anything outside of that is considered homophobic or racist. It's a football game.,you either watch or you don't. Who you shag should have little importance as it has nothing to do with football. I get the PC stuff with the oscars or golden globes because it's about art. This isn't..it's football. Watch the game and laugh at the commercials. If the NFL invited a country singer like Justin Moore and he sang about guns and the stadium held up images of guns, rifles, and the constitution the left would lose their marbles.

Thought GaGa did great, was underwhelmed by Coldplay (not one of my faves), Beyonce didn't do much for me and would rather see Bruno on his own (great performer). Uptown Funk is such a great song and thought they did well with it.

In honor of @AreYouNUTS , maybe we'll see an all-EDM halftime show sometime soon. Would love to see bands like Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, REM, Arcade Fire or the White Stripes (or even just Jack White) play and of the modern pop acts, I'd be happy to see Taylor Swft, Adele, Kanye and a few others. And I'm not a fan of trotting out aging retreads, although the one exception I'd make would be Neil Young, but I doubt he'd agree to it.

It didn't harm anyone and end of the day I don't care. Do you feel the same way about the pro choice groups crying about the Doritos ad? Apparently, it humanized a fetus while making women look weak

I guess I do because a. I didn't even hear about that and b. it's laughably stupid.

You want to protest a Doritos ad and not buy Doritos ... you enjoy that. Just makes me want to buy an extra bag.

Lol. It's always the same with You. Inclusion is great if you agree with it. However, Hudson, 4 real, or someone else talks about guns, the constitution, or freedom you shut down and start labeling people. You love inclusion as long as it fits your agenda.

So, uhhh, a little awkward to have to explain this, but the concept of "inclusion" as we're discussing it relates to people, not inanimate things.

FIVE pages? On this?

I think this thread can be summed in a phrase from an American Classic...

"Not that there is anything wrong with that."

Funny how you simply didn't notice the lefts outrage over this. Amazing how certain posters never see the left and their nonsense but post every RW retard statment immediately.

I'm not sure what to say to someone who can't see the difference between disagreeing with someone's views and not passing Nuremberg style laws to keep a group of people from serving in the military, the cia or walking into a store to buy a wedding cake...

Did someone post about it on this board before you? Otherwise, why would you assume I'd notice it? I don't read nonsense current event stories just to get all worked up, the way other folks do. Was calling it stupid, in no uncertain terms, not enough for you?

I find it interesting and unexpected that you're calling out right wing retards, though. Not how I would have gone, but since we're talking inclusion, I accept it!

However, I could see a band like Metallica working with a Lady Gaga. That could actually have broad appeal and marry genres. I'm not a Gaga fan but you can't deny her talent after the national anthem. Imagine her walking out on stage in the middle of a guitar solo and killing some classic Metallica tune.

No thanks. Just let the band play their music or not at all

Do you think Sheryl Crow singing sweet child O mine sounds good? Lol

I wish it was Bruce, had floor tickets to the show at the prudential center the other day. 66 years old and the guy doesnt miss a step. It was amazing. Also thought the show was strange and all over the place. Bruno Marz was fun and Coldplay actually sounded good despite me not being a fan

OMG, this thread.
Coldplay wasn't pushing a gay agenda...they are big into technicolor...albums revolve around it. Hell, they even have songs called Life in Technicolor and Life in Technicolor II.
I'm sorry, and even though @RU4Real ragged on me on FB for it, Coldplay is one of the greatest bands of our generation. They are global (look at their following in SA and Europe...not to mention, they are HUGE here as well)...and that's what the NFL is trying to do.
The "get off my lawn" crowd is really showing itself right now.

Just looked over the history of SB halftime performances - some random thoughts:

1990 - Pete Fountain and his Half-Fast Walking Club in New Orleans

I can't believe it's been 26 years since this show - one of the shows that sticks in my mind, as it was representative of the city in which the Super Bowl was being held.

1993 - Michael Jackson

I think this set the standard for all Super Bowl shows, and I don't think any show has topped this.

1992 & 1999 - Gloria Estefan

She was huge in the 90's, but what happened to her?

2001 - Aerosmith, N'Sync, Britney Spears, Mary J Blige and Nelly

I thought that this was a good format, a long time, well established act with a selection of new or currently popular acts. The amazing thing is that Aerosmith is still relevant, while the other four are not.

2004 - Nipplegate with Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake

I think the NFL got spooked with the backlash from this, leading them to stick with tried and true acts for the next few years.

2005 - Paul McCartney
2006 - The Rolling Stones
2008 - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
2009 - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
2010 - The Who

For those who talk about getting established rock artists or groups, well, this was your time.

Lots of people let themselves go, especially after they get married...

Look to the left. That picture was taken less than a year ago. Surfed 8 hours on that day. Does it look like I let myself go? You should "marry" a good looking dude, it might motivate you to keep it tight.

This thread is evidence that this country is insanely divided over inane things.
I did not think twice about Coldplay's colorful stage show and it's purported broader appeal. Nor did I think twice about Beyonce's outfit.
As Rodney King said- Can't we all just get along?

pot calling kettle black as usual----
'Instead of trying to diss me as an old person which is the typical reaction when someone criticizes something.." forget being old or young ,Trump would use the p word to describe the guy posting 20 times about this subject

I think Beyoncé could give the Tyler Rose a run for his money!

BTW - I had no problems with WHO the performers were prior to the show, or the "Believe in Love" flashcards, et al, but at the same time the militant shit, IMHO, not good. Not good at all. That's taking your political and/or social commentary a little too far but, hey, it has, does, and unfortunately will continue to happen.

Ha!

Regarding Pearl Jam and REM, well, could have some serious social/political implications with either of those bands at a Super Bowl, as well, and I've seen both live (and would again).

You can't seriously think Pearl Jam would ever consider playing halftime at the Super Bowl ?
That's about at likely as me scoring with Beyoncé.

And BTW, I've also seen both bands live multiple times (and would again).

No, I don't think they would, I was just responding to #'s comments.

Wow - some "true colors" coming out strong on this thread.

Coldplay loves rainbows and colors as somebody else said, so that wasn't a statement, per se, as far as I can tell.

I also don't know too many pro-choice folks who were upset at the Doritos ad - I thought it was hilarious.

And if people who don't know a little history get upset about references to the Black Panthers being made in a game featuring mostly black male athletes, I'd suggest they read up on the history of the BPP. When formed, we were in the throes of the Civil Rights movement, featuring plenty of often organized oppression and violence against blacks - the BPP at the time stood up for their people. While they have gone too far at times, to not understand why they were formed is simply ignorant. And they're largely irrelevant now, given how much times have changed for the better for the most part (although the "racism is dead" crowd still have their heads in the ground).

.

Say WHAT??? I was in an entire bar full of people - male, female, liberal and conservative - and every single person was roaring with laughter watching that one!

see what I mean --you attack age after your bs post to fanusan..you are a big phoney and hate being called out for it--by the way can you give us your latest 20 post critique on beyonce's makeup

no one needs to stalk you--you post constantly, hard to avoid your BS--you are the one trying to be visible -with a lack of honesty--over 80000 posts my god

Add wearing a beret and technicolor to the RWCJ list of things to be butthurt about.

They lost the culture wars so badly, they need to cling and cling.

At the end of the day they're still upset that not just non-whites can perform at the Super Bowl or be a QB but that they can vote and speak their minds like everyone else.

Guns are not people. And it is people who are against two adults engaging in a consensual legal relationships who are opposed to freedom and especially the Constitution. The SCOTUS spoke and your side lost, that you invoke the Constitution on this issue, or Obamacare, or most other issues, goes to show a fundamental total lack of knowledge of what the Constitution provides for (hint hint, the SCOTUS decides what laws are Constitutional, not you, not Canadian senators, not Texas governors, not state elections...could go on here)

And not sure how anyone could possibly be offended by the colors or berets unless they wanted to be. This is what your side has come to. Once upon a time conservatives were actually about small government, not about extrajudicial killings or telling people how to conduct themselves in the bedroom. There was no reference to marriage nor was there anything anti-police. She was wearing an identical outfit to Michael Jackson, maybe the performance was about vitiligo awareness.

Like it or not, gay culture is mainstream culture now, just like 50 years ago people had to accept black culture was mainstream. Don't like it? Do what I would do if Ted Nugent came on- change the channel and GET OVER IT.
