Harbaugh Pressuring Players to Leave?

Which is yet another reason why so unfair that coaches can come and go as they please but god forbid a student decides to transfer or has an agent. OMG!

I believe the year to year scholarships have been changed to a firm 4 or 5 year commitment of not by the NCAA, certainly by The B1G. I believe the firm 4or 5 year commitments start soon if they have not started already. Still doesn't mean that coaches like Harbaugh don't have ways to make a kid leave his program.

good point here. With the new rule making schollies a 4 year thing, it is more important than ever to try to find some stability in your coaching staff. When a new coach comes into a program he is dealing with the old guy's recruits
and wants to free up as many ships for his recruits... well thats fine, but it creates depth chart problems down the line for that program. Right now Harbaugh sees a few guys who just don't fit his system and therefore are basically wasted scholarships...

Every situation is different at every school and for every player. It is true that at schools were winning championships is a realistic objective, the competition is hgher per position- or at least the number of player competing who are more athletically talented is greater, there are higher expectations, and the 2nd, 3rd, and fourth string players have more options to play elsewhere.

There is nothing wrong with having a kid be told he is honesty never going to play....

You can be sure that, privately, all schools, including RU, recruit certain players and let them know that this is a distinct risk they take accepting a scholarship at a sxhool that may be a little reach if they don't develop

And Rutgers has been really good about his and kids getting injuries after committing

This kid has had multiple concussions and blew out his knee. This player is being called out on Twitter by his former teammates. You have no clue what your talking about with harbaugh wearing out his welcome in 5 years

Go away you fvcking troll. The kid had 1 concussion as a feshman. His second concussion was 2 years later. He tore his knee and rehabbed it ....as happens with many football players. Harbaugh is kicking out rehabbing player and might even be using the team as his tool to call the kid out in public on twitter. At the very least he should be keeping this all in house and control his team. The guy is a very good coach, but even in SF he was pretty much a douche.

I agree with this take on the issue. I don't doubt Coach Flood strongly encourages some guys to leave. I think they feel he has their best interests at heart, and so they believe his opinion has lots of credibility. I tend to believe the posters who say he will not push the young man out, if he insists he wants to stay. It has been said over and over again that his relationship with his players is his biggest strength.

As far as Harbaugh goes, I personally have no idea as to how big a "Dick" he is, if at all. It is hard to figure out the agenda of the press at times. All I know is what I have read about him and heard here, and the general opinions seem pretty negative. I would guess he is a hell of a coach, but maybe not so great a human being. But as I said, I have never met the man. He could be a great positive role model, for all I know - but I doubt it.

No, we don't. Most of the transfers are due to players realizing they are far down the depth chart and unlikely to play.

Yes we do. Trust me. This happens everywhere - from Ohio St and Oregon to Buffalo and Temple. RU does too.

Again unless you have some kind inside information... I don't know how/why you would make a statement like this when you have no idea of its accuracy.
