I know two of R biggest "wins" were a 1986? opoener Tie with #1 Florida (I find it weird that I never knew that then my kicker friend Tom Angstadt NEVER was in positon in 4 years to kick a game winning field goal) and of course the big upset over the former Rose Bowl Champs Michigan State in 1988 (unable to afford that game and with INXS tickets I wound up selling I went back to Chapel Hill that weekend for a 28-0 blowout from Oklahoma). Unless it was real early in R history don't think we ever opened with the former national champs. Think it may have happened in hoops (may have just had that conversation on way to Iowa game).
