Not sure what you are saying, but you don't need to lose two years to injury. You have five years of eligibility, but in one of those years you are not allowed to compete
at all. This is your redshirt year. Then, if you are hurt in one of the other 4 years in which you do compete, you can apply for a 6th year (replacement year) if:
- You have a documented injury that prevents you from competing;
- You did not compete at all in the second half of the season; and
- You did not compete in more than 30% of the possible competitions for the season.
Whether or not you use a redshirt year has no bearing on whether you qualify for a medical hardship waiver. The medical hardship is granted to replace one of the 4 years in which you do actually compete for your school.
