I think it was more about him being a Florida native and what he did at USF than what he didn't do at Oregon.

But I don't know that he was worth all the buyout money to Oregon/USF (which Oregon owed) and a 5M salary. He's a solid choice but that's a lot of money for a guy not proven yet on the P5 level. I guess they'll find out in the coming years if it was worth it or not.
