and get steamrolled by Alabama instead of going to Rose Bowl and probably beating Colorado or USC.

Doubling down on stupid

Brilliant strategy
Seriously want a moron. If they don't get in its not like they go home and get nothing. They get the prestigious Rose Bowl against a winnable opponent vs them getting destroyed by Alabama. Get a clue.

i dont want PSU in..but i firmly believe its a terrible thing for the conference champ to get left behind. We should be able to sell kids on playing in the best conference, and having a chance to win the league and make the playoff. that goes out the window....and essentially means that kids need to play for the name brand to have a chance. Further separates the haves vs have nots

USC just beat Washington at Washington, Penn St beat Ohio St too.

Just another case for a much bigger playoff.

i like the 8 team idea because i think you put the 5 conference champs in and have 3 at large bids up for grabs.

Or how about they miss the playoff and still get blown out in the bowl game. Better than your dumb scenario OP
Have u watched college football before? You think Penn St has a better chance of getting blown out by Alabama or Colorado? SMH

Them just making the playoff would be a disaster. A lot more press and people watching. Even if they got blown out by Alabama they can still say they were top 4 and one of the big boys. Recruiting would become even better. People won't even tune in if its penn state vs Colorado. No one will care and it'll be even better if they lost to Colorado because Colorado isn't a household name. Doesn't have to be a blow out.

You're overthinking it.

I was just thinking if they just make the playoff and get blown out and forgotten that would have been better than them as Rose Bowl champions which is the most prestigious and most watched of all bowl games outside of the playoff maybe. They may face USC which would make it even more hyped and PSU has a chance to beat them but zero chance with Alabama. Oh well doesn't matter now anyway just hope they lose the Rose Bowl badly.

Most watched OUTSIDE of the playoff

Do you understand why this is such a bad idea now?

There is no scenario in which psu making the playoff would have been better for us . none.

And i do apologize for the name calling. not cool on my part.

I see your point and I apologize also..thanks

B1G conference champion should be in....let's take any emotion out of it...that is just the right thing.

USC is playing better football than anyone not named Alabama right now. They beat PSU by 14 points at least.

USC has won eight straight, outscoring opponents by an average of 38.37-18.62. Its opponents over that stretch have a combined record of 47-51.

PSU has won nine straight, outscoring opponents by an average of 40.11-19.22. Its opponents over that stretch have a combined record of 57-52.

This should be a great game. Two 2017 preseason top-five squads going at it.
