Although they get the best talents they still coach them up to wrestle to basically their full potential and more.. not all can't miss prospects pan out but almost all of PSU's have... it's scary the amount of talent they can keep reloading with...Well there goes PSU Nuts theory on that psu doesn't always get the best talent. All their national champs were can't miss prospects. Hell even their Hwt who placed 5th was ranked the 4th best prospect in his yr.
Here my point. Nolf, Joseph and Ashnault were all ranked the same. Nolf as a sophmore is a national champion and made the finals as a freshmen. Joseph won a NC as a freshmen and beat a two time national champion who was ranked higher out of high school. So it not just about getting top talent it is also about developing that talent.Well there goes PSU Nuts theory on that psu doesn't always get the best talent. At the rate PSU is picking up all the blue chippers it won't be much of a NCAA team race for years to come...5 returning national champs and a constant stream of blue chips recruits yowza... how do they have enough scholarship for all this? Here my point. Like everything there are some guys who are going to be a huge disappointment. And what about Jimmy Gulibon?
The next two years shouldn't be even close. Next year Penn State loses 4 team points. However they have Suriano who was ranked #2 before he was hurt returning and Cortez who was ranked #8 before he was hurt for the season. I think that will more than make up for the loss of Gulibon. At the rate PSU is picking up all the blue chippers it won't be much of a NCAA team race for years to come...5 returning national champs and a constant stream of blue chips recruits yowza... how do they have enough scholarship for all this?
Re. Gulibon, he's very talented but has always been erratic. Disappointment? Yes. But he has also been an AA and won some big matches. He also had Heil pinned twice in duals title match, but was robbed. His effort was key in shifting momentum in that match, after Suriano injury and void at 133.The next two years shouldn't be even close. Next year Penn State loses 4 team points.
