Hungry? Here's your Big Ten school's top game-day restaurant

I'll attest to Misty's in Nebraska. From it being somewhat normal to lay down on the sidewalk before the meal, to their tremendous steak + mushroom dinners served on salad and people picking up the tab, not to mention the freedom to leave mid-meal and still keep your friends, along with a call to security to make sure everything's okay, Misty's has it all. Definitely a crowd favorite.

i miss the original shrimp boli - which was shrimp, mozzarella, and garlic butter - not the tomato sauce version they now have

Huskers, please tell me that Misty's prime rib tastes as good as it looks!!!

Lettermans for PSU? It's only been around for a few months! How the hell did they pick that? And how would they know that it is "probably busier on gamedays"???

Controversy's a-brewing!!
And from what I heard, the early reviews were mediocre, although they have been better as of late.

JMO, but I think the Happy Valley Brewing Co. should be near the top of the list. Faccia Luna as well (the original one, not Faccia Luna II).

In 2005, some buddies and I took a road trip from Rutgers to Purdue. When we were out there, our one buddy was turning 21 and we promised him a great time. We brought a ton of cash, expecting to spend $$$ drinking and celebrating. First bar we go to, I ask the girl behind the bar for the specials... I had to ask her to repeat herself when she said $2 pitchers and .50 LIT's. I handed her a 20 and told her I'll take 10 pitchers.

We started handing out the pitchers to people and telling them it was to celebrate our friends 21st bday. What a wild time.,,,

At 3am when the bars closed, we stumbled over to TRIPLE X ( mentioned in the link). What a neat atmosphere, it is similar to a Stewart's Rootbeer, but open 24 hours. Sat at the counter and ate biscuits and gravy lol. Can't remember if they were as good as advertised....but what a night. That place knows how to party.

My hotel in Columbus was down the street from the Varsity. Walked by, looked in and not impressed.
I went over to Schmidt's not football related or close to campus but worth the short trip.

With all our PSU visitors on this site I hope somebody has a better suggestion than Lettermans. Does not look promising.

Lettermans hasn't even been open during football season yet so I'm not sure how they can be included in the list this year. I wouldn't write them off going forward but the inclusion now premature. Depends what kind of food you like but here are my favorites in no particular order. In parentheses I put either the style of food or my favorite menu item.

American Ale House (Steam pots), Champs (Colorado Rockie), Spats/Rathskeller (Cajun), Cozy Thai (Drunken Noodles), Penang (Penang Curry), Faccia Luna (Wood Fired Pizza) , Rey Azteca (Mexican), Sakura (I love you roll), Fuji Jade (Hibachi)

Good list. Add Pickles as well since it is a fun hangout spot.

It's bad enough that this board gets littered with OT posts about New Jersey restaurants during the off-season. Now we have to put up with PSU fans discussing State College restaurants?

[winking]

The Deli and Inferno are my go-to places in State College on game-day for food.
I do like the Deli. Massive menu... seems like it goes through waves though where the food is either really good or pretty mediocre. I guess that is to be expected with a menu of that size in a college town.
