Sorry to say, but all indications are he’s a bust. No one can say otherwise.

He has no basketball skills. Said this since day he was signed.Sorry to say, he’s a bust. No one can say otherwise
Pretty tough pass to handle for a 6'8" guy, but the pass before that in the corner it didn't look like he even wanted to shoot.Wtf was he a spectator on that play???
Got caught not ready to shoot and then drove and threw a pass that had a 0% chance of reaching its intended target.Pretty tough pass to handle for a 6'8" guy, but the pass before that in the corner it didn't look like he even wanted to shoot.
It’s not just that play he’s just ill equipped at this levelWtf was he a spectator on that play???
I can’t imagine anyone would argue with that.Sorry to say, he’s a bust. No one can say otherwise
He was always a bust. I was screaming this from rooftop back in Spring. He is NOT the kid on ND. Not even close. Was probably shocked Pike signed him no questions asked.I can’t imagine anyone would argue with that.
Always an inside joke. Anointed captain of basketball team because...wait for it...he went to Princeton.Did Pike anoint him captain or did the team vote on that?
I am. His entire collegiate numbers show he is not much of a contributor against this level of competition. No, he’s not a star. But like some others who get crushed on this board, he’ll be a contributor as the year plays out. Everybody so freakin quick to throw kids overboard.

He’s guilty of stealing a scholly until he shows up with receipts. No, he’s not a star. But like some others who get crushed on this board, he’ll be a contributor as the year plays out. Everybody so freakin quick to throw kids overboard.
Reiber was a contributor to a couple wins in his time here. Did that make him a Big Ten player??No, he’s not a star. But like some others who get crushed on this board, he’ll be a contributor as the year plays out. Everybody so freakin quick to throw kids overboard.
Lol...actually agree with dress up on thisI was in the strong strong minority when I said I was worried about Martini working out in the B1G. He's not athletic enough for the 4. Not big enough for the 5. Classic tweeter
Can Pike figure out how to use Martini and Hayes?
Sadly with the way our centers foul, we have no choiceHe's probably an average D1 backup power forward. He's not a center and he's not someone who should see more than 7 minutes a game.
I anoint him captain of the bench for the remainder of the year! Can’t shoot, defend, rebound, or handle the ball. How did he get named captain?
With an open scholly, we could theoretically add another center for depth at least for the 2nd semester. No idea if there’s anyone available.Sadly with the way our centers foul, we have no choice
A very real possibilityMartini iis out of his league at this level. Give his minutes to Grant going forward.
And how about Allocco? Night and dayAveraged 8 and 3 as the 4th option on an Ivy League team and he was our #1 portal target. A shame
He has to catch itThat was a bad pass by Bailey at the end.
Was Martinis best game last year against us? He looked good. Bummer.
Pike and staff need to figure out how to get Hayes and Martini going. Sad part is Hayes had some looks today and did nothing with them really, not good. Martini looked like he wanted no part of shooting on the few possible attempts he could have shot. They are both doing nothing right now, it is going to be a long year if that continues. Or Pike needs to play others more minutes like Acuff (also done nothing this year) and Grant I guess. 3 transfers are not doing much at all, Hayes, Martini, Acuff and Derkack has done more but he has had up and down with good games and bad games.I was in the strong strong minority when I said I was worried about Martini working out in the B1G. Was suppose to be veteran and provide stability. Made at least 6-8 rookie mistakes today. Number 1 reason we lost today.Kid gets nervous at crunch time and screwed up two chances to win games. Can’t play him after the ten minute mark of the second half
There were SO many drive by dunks today it was really alarming to see. Matador D at its finest.I've been on this for awhile, but the roster is set and he's on the roster, so we have to find the right matchups that work. Putting him out there and asking him to grab rebounds against bigger players, is not his fault.
My concern isn't that he was one of the choices via the portal.....every roster needs a Martini to keep things moving in the right direction. The concern is he doesn't appear that eager to mix it up and collide with someone, to draw fouls on box outs.....sell it, do something to show the player is over the back....get to the FT line and find ways to add value.
I'm trying to understand the value of redshirting Dortch or waiting until today to throw Dylan Grant out there. None of it makes sense from an offense, rebounding and especially a length and defense/switching role. Every possession and stop on defense counts....every drive that's discouraged because we have some length or something helps....Right now, the tape says you can just attack our guards off the dribble and get to the basket OR a drive by a guard to a cutting big man, gets you a layup or dunk.
If Martini clubbed someone on a drive and someone took a spill from an opponent, so be it....
He broke his foot in June and and was not fully cleared until October. There were SO many drive by dunks today it was really alarming to see. Matador D at its finest.
I feel Grant will slide into the 4 to get more minutes than Martini soon. But we will lack muscle against BIG10 teams.
Hawk, is it simply that Tyson is just out of shape physically still? (Which is an indictment of training staff) Or is he REALLY that slow afoot on D?
