I STILL support Coach Flood. Do you ?

He has dealt with the off-field chaos, directly, and will have the next man step up
this week at PState.

I like the way he has kept the focus on the players available, and let's be
prepared to win the next game mentality.

Still has my support.

NYCTarheel23: Politi? That you? A UNC fan with Jordan's # posting on an RU FB board? What gives?

I support him. We have a local press that seems to be established for the very purpose of destroying Kyle Flood. And the dirtiest thing they have on him is that he tried to help a troubled player earn a better grade.

There is a reason why everyone respects this guy so much.

If you are upset that the future 4-star busts of NJ don't pick RU, build the man a 100k stadium and a university with amenities that are in the same universe as our more successful recruiting competitors. Then evaluate him in relation to those places. I see a team that has no quit in it. Flood's our guy for the time being.

Otherwise you are leveling the house in hopes of rebuilding the same exact house. People don't do that.

Unless you want to bring in a dishonorable cheating type. Perhaps even someone who will sleep with recruits' moms...

I am rooting for coach Flood and the Rutgers football team.

Would be great for all of us if he and the team can succeed under these circumstances.

In the meantime, fans on fan boards will be fans, cheering, debating, second guessing, criticizing, challenging, etc. That's what why we are here.

Go Rutgers!

I also support him...... A few players have betrayed him and the program..... Many other programs have had things like this without national fanfare, unfortunately when some thing happens here the newspapers and reporters jump all over it.....

I also believe he can learn and grow into a very good all around head coach..... Every great head coach started out as not being one, and they develop..... It is too soon to say at this point if he will be, but we do know that he is a genuine nice guy and is working hard, trying to find both obvious great players and hidden gems for our program

I had a momentary lapse but am back on the bus.

You just got excited thinking about Dino Babers or Tom Herman possibly coaching here. We know you think very highly of them. We'll let i9t slide this time. lol

If you truly support KF, the win loss record this year should be irrelevant to you.
His defensive backfield is in jail, his best D linemen is out, one of the best WR's in the nation is out, three new OL starters, new TE, new QB
Your support has to be based upon you think he's recruiting well and we will be good moving forward.
If you're playing a wait and see game of how many wins we collect this year...IMO you really don't fully support KF.
You can be a huge RU fan and fanatically support RU football and not truly fully support KF in the way I described

I support him. I believe that he is our best affordable HC option at this time. I shudder to think about what would happen if we fire him and have to go out onto the open market for a new HC with the present RU Administration in tow.

While I believe that KF has majority support from RU FB fans today, that can change Sunday morning if he doesn't get the Win at PSU. So I'd guess that he has lukewarm support from RU fans today.

So do you support him? By the way, that post sounds like something I would write and NUTS would call me out on.

I support our coach, our program and our university until there is a reason to do otherwise. I have not seen a reason to do otherwise as of today. Kyle Flood is a good an honorable man who is growing as a Coach. I wish sometimes he would do some things differently, but most of us can say that about any coach.

I don't think flood has what it takes to get us to the next level BUT until RU is willing to make a big hire he's what we've got and I support
Him

I support Rutgers University , Rutgers football and every program and person associated with it. Therefore while Flood or whomever else is our coach he has my 100% support.

I will not be the judge of "fire this person or that person". I always thought that people who did that lacked the intellect to actually dissect the root cause problem and come up with a lasting solution. In some cases replacing people is the right solution, but it better be very well thought out otherwise it could certainly make problems even worse.

By that definition, I can't say that I support him. I like Flood and think he can be a successful coach. But his W-L record is not irrelevant.

Why would you not support your HC. The man has done nothing wrong. He doled out the proper punishments when necessary and did not hide from the problems. You should not support the lame NJ media (especially nj.com) that have blown this whole thing out of proportion; as well as those on here who spout off their PC garbage. If this were the SEC, as an example, the Carroo headline probably would have read " Star Wide Receiver comes to the aide of a female in distress". It's all in how you spin it! Stop eating your own.

I fanatically support RU football, but I can't say I don't care about our record this year.

I support RUTGERS. If Flood does things that make Rutgers better, then yes, I support him. If he does not, then no, I do not support him. Simple as that.

I'm not sure. I've spoken to people around NJ HS football who said that KF has taken players who were underrecruited due to character issue. Why was Peele, #15 in NJ and a 3 star player, not given one offer from a Dv1 school? Supposedly Boggs was passed over by a bunch of other schools on character concerns as well. If KF brought in enough of these guys it can corrode a larger group of kids, especially if the HC let discipline slide during his rule.

Was that comment really necessary? Com'on Shift we've started out on a good note so far, let's not go down this road again, okay? :(

Anyway, I'm not one who necessarily feels anybody should "have" to support a coach just because they support a program. I think I did for a few years, when Greg took over, but that was because - at the time - he was taking us out of the depths of hell, but I think I would have supported O.J. Simpson to the bitter end had he been our HC at the time, lol! Anyway, the "program" is what we're all attached to, some more than others but "attached" nonetheless, not the coach (.... Now, if you want to be attached to the coach fine, that's your choice, but I'm not going to tell anyone what to do, just like I'm not going to tell guys who follow RU soccer, and support the program to no end, that they have to like Donigan.

That being said I don't know where I am right now. I had 2 more paragraphs written, but, I'm not going to get into 2013 all over again - in addition to recent events - so let's just say that, IMHO, Flood has never really had "control" of this program, but it's not for me to attempt to evaluate the "why's" of it so I'll leave it at that. Add that to the on-field disasters of 2013 as well as the recruiting woes and, well, after last Saturday let's just say that I'm "teetering" on the edge right now. Let's see if he can pull a rabbit out of his hat this weekend, however, before really starting to get worried about the 2015 season. Honestly, I really do hope he does (pull off the "W" this week) because, as I've always said, I want nothing but the best for this program. Always have, always will, and absolutely do today.

I don't know what support means. I want Rutgers to win the rest of their games. I don't have much faith in the team because of Flood.

Good reply, and I wasn't trying to start anything with you. Apologies for the shot across your bow. I was just saying that when reasoning is supplied like it was in Zap's post (and I have written many posts like Zap's) as to why things have not gone well for Coach Flood, some posters would jump in and say "stop making excuses." You know how I feel about 2013, and two grown men can disagree without :boxing:, and would rather have a discussion and at least say we agree that we don't fully agree or disagree. I said before that after 2013, I would have thought we would have rolled out a different defensive game plan against a pass happy offense like WSU. So that is a negative for me. And we agree that this week is crucial, but I am concerned with Hamilton out, the brand new secondary (but hey, they got like 5 games worth of experience against WSU), no Carroo, and perhaps not full strength James, we are not playing with our best hand. But hey, we should be able to go to the bench if we recruited and/or developed young players well, and next man up. This week, I want adjustments, fewer penalties and a win. Cheers. [cheers](my mug is full of root beer).

I support him only because he's the best we could do right now. I don't believe that a very good coach would consider coming here due to the media scrutiny and RU's commitment to athletics. I refuse to get delusional and start dreaming about a list of coaches who would never consider us. So, yes I support Coach Flood he's an honest man who wants only the best for RU.

i support him as a person, not as a coach. think he is a subpar coach.

This . Nothing shows KF is a B1G level Head Coach.
And the lack of discpline demonstrated by the team over the last 3 weeks shows he has lost control.

Support the team, of course.
It seems a huge amount of posters are back on the KF bandwagon because the charges against CL were only a simple assault.

My best answer to the question posed by the OP is "I'm not sure." I've sorta always been on the fence about whether he can develop into what we need to take the next step. In 2013, I fell very far to "bad" side of the fence. In 2014 and through the current recruiting cycle, I've been feeling a lot better. Now we have the last few weeks. While I don't find any fault whatsoever about the grade thing, the arrests are a very big concern for me. If rumors are true about Peele, Boggs, etc being reaches from a character standpoint, that's a big negative. It doesn't take much to infect a locker room, and you have to be careful with that stuff.

I support him and root for his success because I support Rutgers, but have unanswered questions. I guess, overall I'm disappointed that the trajectory seems to swing back and forth, rather than steadily upward.

Sounds good and I agree, we should be able to go 2-3 deep and not skip a beat, but I'm just not sure if we can. Some positions - no doubt - so let's hope it's the right ones this week! [cheers] (mine is full of water after the past 2 weeks!)
