I was very embarrassed by our mascot at the end of the game.

While our team and Army's team were standing in front of their band and cadets while their alma mater was being played, our mascot was prancing and twirling and gesturing out on the 25 yard line. It was disgraceful: the whole stadium was standing respectfully for that, and he/she was out there acting like a fool. What the hell was that idiot thinking?

He was thinking like a mascot.

Can Flood stop thinking like Forest Gump? No he can't. This is the same thing. Some people and things do things because that's just the way they are.

Gotta agree with Spank here the "mascot" should know better. Much, much better, especially when at a service academy.

You're upset by our silly-arse mascot's antics, after a road win? OK. Let's suspend him for the next/final game. And have him send a letter of apology to the Superintendent of the USMA. Good?

I think Julie owes someone an apology, if we had a more diverse mascot maybe this wouldn't have happened

Obviously you have no clue. When you play the Naval Academy or Army you show extra respect. These are kids who graduate and go into war and defend our country. If you didn't realize this then maybe you shouldn't make smart ass comments.

I saw the same thing. Couldn't agree more.

Saw a little of while walking out, but not really a big deal to me. The team and coaches of Rutgers were showing respect, that is what is important. A mascot is a costumed character. He did not play in the game. If a player or coach displayed that type of behavior, I would have an issue with it.

I love that Army has been taking a lighter look at games and making them fun for the fans. From the parachutists, to the mascot race, to the FG contest, and yes, famous Generals as caricatures in a cartoon race.

I hope Army doesn't take it so seriously, and personally, I don't feel We have anything to apologize for.

Thank you.

Yea, I too thought it was a bit uncalled for. It's funny how 3 hours of good will could be tarnished by some disrespectful gestures. The mascot is fun and wonderful but he should have stood silent during the Army alma mater...

Oh, I have a clue. Lighten up, sport.

RU usually does pretty well with the SA alma mater thing. Its not really set in stone that all schools even stand by as Army sings. Stanford just left the field. They didn't sing with their team either. Meanwhile about 50 Stanford fans stood for 30 minutes with signs saying "Stanford Salutes USMA". Mascot sounded goofy but I'm not betting Army people would really care. Army has one of the goofiest multi-mascot situations going. Almost had one blow my knee out lol

Another example of why Rutgers is a Mickey Mouse Program.
What a frick'n embarssment .

Not all schools stand with the SA teams during the alma mater. I was approached by an Army fan the night before the game. He explained how he became a Rutgers fan years ago when he saw our team stand behind Army during the playing of the alma mater. HE SAID FROM THAT DAY FORWARD, HE BECAME A RUTGERS FAN! Let that sink in. He became a Rutgers fan because of the respect we paid to Army... I was very proud to say the least....

Atfer the Connie Rice episode, what would you expect from our liberal Alma Mater ? And remember the Navy game at home a few years ago? That was even a bigger embarrassment.

How about we change his uniform and send him with those who choose to serve! Betcha we could really get him to dance and prance then. No one is teaching these kids respect anymore! Let me go out on a limb here and take a guess - You voted for Obama.

PS.Thanks Spanky for posting I actually missed the embarrasment

What's even worse.......we will never see the Rutgers mascot again on a ESPN commercial.

This is the worst thing that has ever happened the Rutgers program in 250 years.

OR...

Maybe it was a protest. The mascot may be Muslim and he was protesting that Army players/soldiers may soon get deployed and could possibly kill his Islamic brothers.

Oh, I have a clue. Lighten up, sport.

No sir, you do not have a clue. Next year while you and I are having a brew while watching a college football game some of those guys will be in shit-hole places like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc., hunting down terrorists for your freedom and comfort.

I appreciated Flood's post game comments when he pointed out to his players that playing at West Point was special and to be sure to shake hands with them after the game because they're the ones that defend your freedom.

it's not a matter of "lighten up" it's a matter of respect. BTW, was the Army mascot clowning around during the Rutgers alma mater?

What exactly did RU do wrong in the "Connie Rice episode"? I thought she should've spoken. Two of my kids attend RU and they should she should spoken. RU thought she should've spoken. The vast majority of this board seemed to think she should've spoken.

So I guess I'm failing to see where RU did something wrong there. Can you clarify?

Actually, I think the mascot was Obama. He wanted to attend the game without all the attention and secret service. Just enjoy the game like everyone else. He hatched up this plan to be the Rutgers Mascot.

Get a life. He can't even see out of that custome. You don't know what he saw. He was at our end of the stadium and he was a great mascot, interacted with ail fans, especially the kids, including those wearing army apparel. Stop finding something to complain about and celebrate a win

Thought it was a bit odd but whatever. Didn't realize that not every team stands behind the SAs for their alma maters.

Bad situational awareness, at best. Once you put on a uniform with Rutgers on it, you are representing the school. If the mascot didn't know what was happening, you'd hope a "handler" of some type would get a hold of him/her and put a stop to it. Hopefully it never happens again.

Way back when, I was part of our pep band on a game at West Point. After the game we were playing "Loyal Sons". Many Rutgers fans kept on walking by; the cadets in our area stopped dead in their tracks and waited until we finished playing. RESPECT. They must've thought it was our Alma Mater. I was honored by the respect they showed our school. We should do the same, particularly for the academies.

Ok, watch on tv replay, we had about 30 players out there. Where did the rest go? Anyone notice that?

Spanky - I agree with you. When I saw the Knight dancing and gesturing I turned to my son and asked, "What is wrong with him?" (Yea, yea I know, it could be a her).

And they should definitely get off your lawn!
