Sirius Xm is going to start talking about the recent Press Release about Jerry Kill.

Who is on the air:

None other than our former HC Kyle Flood.

In all honesty I am interested in his take on this as is is not that dissimilar to his hiring of Ralph Friedgen.

Why do you think this will be awkward? If it were HC i'd agree. Kyle is a professional and he'll do a good job.

Don't disagree. As a fan i find it slightly awkward to hear what a former HC feels about the moves a current Head Coach is making. That being said. I enjoyed like crazy when Brady Hoke talked Michigan Football and Jim Harbaugh. It is a unique perspective.

After listening to a couple SiriusXM shows with KF, I have a more favorable impression of him. Not to the extent that I want him to coach here again or to say that he should not have been canned, but he does have what I would call good "football operations" knowledge. You get a different, and not altogether accurate side of a coach when you see that coach doing the public speaking that is part of the HC job..the pressers, fundraising speeches, game of the week commentary. In this forum and in his post-HC part of his life, he has little to hold him back.

So what did he say?

In a nutshell. He said the it was an excellent hire and that college football is much Better with Jerry Kill involved in it and on the sidelines. He spoke a bit about Ralph amd Ron Prince and also how almost all of our former coordinators left and are still in NFL positions.

Talk about how having a guy that was a HC is very beneficial because they have been in your chair and want you to succeed amd know what you a going thru.

He is very good on the radio to be honest. He knows his shit.

Sorry but he always came across as professional and a class act in my limited interaction with him.

I completely agree and came away with the same feeling the times I spoke with him. There was plenty to criticize, but his ability to carry himself wasnt one of them. IMHO, he was just in way over his head, and trying desperately to win. This obviously led to some questionable decisions being made, which was unfortunate for everyone involved.

I have a friend who is an Ohio St alum. Hugh fan. His house and car are decked in Ohio State gear, He always text's me when Flood is on. He loves him as a "Football guy" Says he is one of the best at getting to the Heart of the matter. He told me he could listen to him for hours, He said he would be on ESPN or Big10 network one day.

He was always a good talker. This is where he belongs.

If Flood doesn't go to Princeton, he's still our coach. Hiring Ben Mcdaniels was a big mistake. We needed someone seasoned like Charlie Weiss.

Other than Rick Neuheisel, Flood might be the best of any of the ex head Coaches Sirius/XM has hired for their College FB shows .
Years ago Mike Leach was good, but rambled. Butch Davis and Houston Nutt weren't as articulate as Flood. Lou Holtz is in a league of his own with story telling.

I am glad Flood is doing well away from Rutgers Football. He's not a bad guy just over his head as noted above. He did do things in the best interest R football (in his mind) but just screwed up.

Good for him. Good for us having somebody out there representing us well and saying good things about us.

I disagree. He couldn't effectively recruit, and there is no way you can survive that for long in college football. HC in college must be able to sell a vision. All of his issues stemmed from not being able to recruit, and therefore being desperate for on field talent. I have no doubt that he didn't want to do, or feel good about doing some of the things that he did, but he felt (probably correctly) that he had no choice. If he wanted to succeed (and if Rutgers was to succeed) he had to do whatever he could to keep the talent on the field.

the awkward part is when they brought up th OU player who punched out the girl and discussed the throwing off a player from team and out of school all kids who comitt crimes while on scholorship..Flood didnt say too much on that topic..even though he could have given some good first hand knowledge of that scenario..
Will admit he is a good speaker about general college football on Sirius..much better then he was at X and Os and coaching.he actualy is a decent listen.

If Flood wasn't told to go to Princeton, Julie may still be our AD...lol
