Call him, email him, he is in charge of "gameday production". Threaten to cancel your tickets, withhold donations, whatever. We are the customers, let him know the customers aren't happy.

Train Horn, "Make Some Noise" and "Early Bird" need to be abolished ASAP. After that, basically any noise in between plays. Reduce the volume, limit scoreboard production to timeouts.

plus all that bullshit at the rac..the problem is he already knows the fans hate this...there is no accountability because there is no AD and some say that Greg handpicked him to come here

everyone who works in RU athletics reads this board and facebook, they know how the fans feel

Our crew mostly loves the gameday production, especially the kids. We'll be emailing PJ to thank him for his efforts.
Glad I’m not the only one. He basically transplanted the Penn State Stadium Music Selection/noise to Rutgers Stadium, with the exception of the train horn, which came from West Virginia. Pretty sure everything that is done, is done with Schiano’s blessing.

The New York vs Chicago idea came from USC.
They did LA vs NY.

They would enjoy it just as much if the volume were turned down some and the sound guy worked in some periods of relative quiet now and then.
I think you were the only one who disliked the music/volume, but you're old. Personally, I care very little about the gameday entertainment - the only thing I care about is winning and I'm much happier last year and this year than the previous 8 years. Of course, I'd like to win even more.

And, pursuant to my previous comment in this thread and similar to Schiano’s coaching acumen on Saturday, both were complete dog shit

Greg needs to worry about coaching, and PJ needs to realize we’re not The Cult, and don’t want to be like The Cult

You actually think he "knows the fans hate this?" Seriously? Didn't realize you spoke for all of the fans. I'm sure once he knows that, he'll change everything or be fired. Get over yourself.

He speaks for me and many others. I cannot stand the noise. I don't even mind the volume, other than the horn, which is way too loud and stupid to begin with. It's the complete lack of any type of tempo or sync. It's just a bunch of noise thrown together in a terrible sequence. There is nothing cool or inspiring about it. If it were a better set of music'sounds, I might be ok with it.

I just dislike when anyone says they speak for everyone, which is what bac is saying. I couldn't give less of a shit about the gameday entertainment. They could play only marching band music or no music at all and I really wouldn't care, as long as we were winning. Sure, I have personal preferences (I'd play a wide variety of R&B, Motown, punk, classic rock, hip-hop, EDM/pop and some football classics and no band and have it very loud, but I wouldn't allow any music once the play clock starts), but I know I only speak for me, really.

its stupid....chicago is 2 hours from illinois

and the time they did it with 2 minutes left was brainless

they read these boards and the same complaints are getting louder and more frequent...ditto for the facebook groups

the question is whether he is protected by Greg so there is no accountablity to change...i would say with a no AD there isnt any accountability right now

if playing the music loudly does not bother you, but bothers other people, it would be considerate of them to listen to the people that ARE bothered.

i don't believe the Greg conspiracies. you think Greg is on the sideline thinking we need more train horn? and make it louder?

Perhaps, but I also think there are many fans who would be bothered by much quieter music and more band music and until somebody shows me a survey of actual fans' opinions on this, I'll remain unconvinced. I prefer data-driven decisions over feelings and opinions.

It’s f ng chucky cheese on steroids. I would love it we had a power outage at kickoff.

Everyone in my group of 12 regulars plus the extra people we bring despise the loud music. It is a constant assault on the senses and damaging to the ears, especially for kids. Every survey we put that as the number one complaint and it does no good.

This is why people leave in the 3rd qtr., they have enough of the non- game nonsense. What more proof do you want.

Not to defend HC Schiano but I highly doubt he has a personal opinion on it.

If he is indeed "protecting" or has some role in it, I would assume it is at 100% the players direction or preference.

There's no way HC Schiano is actually paying attention during the game.
At best he'd be indifferent to it.

I've said it in here a few times, this year I voted with my wallet and gave up my tickets. I've let PJ know several times over the last few years he sucks at his job. I've also let him know that it's obvious the cacophony of noise on 3rd down specifically is to drown out our beloved students greatest chant and tradition "**** PENN STATE!" and I won't drop another nickel at Rutgers until he's looking for another job. Rutgers students are offered season tickets at a deeeep discount and I have a buddy with a daughter in the band. We get in on her tickets these days.

What is most galling is Rutgers won't even consider hiring for this job from within it's own Sports Management department. It's been stated a few times ITT: WE DON'T WANT TO BE JUST LIKE THE CULT. Find someone with fresh, locally pertinent ideas.

Edit: BTW if you're a big PJ fan because he's such a swell guy when he's schmoozing you because you've met him, spare me the "Good Guy" defense.

For the first time in my life, I went to every away game this year, and there is a stark contrast between the level of noise at our stadium vs. others. The sound effects and train horn have gotten completely out of hand. I was trying to have a short conversation with the person next to me this weekend, and we couldn't hear each other unless there was an injured player on the field. This actually works against the team, because there is no time for the actual crowd noise to build due to the wall-to-wall noise. It's gotten way out of hand.

My buddies and I go to an away game every year, and every year at whichever away game we go to, we inevitably comment on how refreshing it is to be able to talk to each other and feel the college football atmosphere with the band playing more frequently than the PA music. The fact that they even list the PA volume on the feedback survey where it asks which areas need improvement is pretty telling, I have never even heard of this being an issue at any other sports venue. I've seen parents bringing protective earmuffs to put on their kids because of how loud it is. You shouldn't need PPE to watch a football game, so ridiculous.

You and I both love music. I am big fan of Ozzy and metal music. But I also like watching sporting events and discussing the game with my seat neighbors, something that is impossible to do during the game because of the constant barrage of noise. What is worse, as has been pointed out multiple times, is the repetitive Make Some Noiz, Ozzy laugh, crazy train, train horn nonsense seemingly 50 times per game. @mb5789 , @Richie O, and @Alec Crouthamel brought this up during their podcast today.

You think the game day environment is fine, but you seem to be one of the only people in several threads saying this. I would think if a survey was taken, it would be more than 60% of people dislike the volume and repetitive noise played during the game. For us, the home games are dates for me and the Mrs. But we both are at the point that, among other things such as the tailgates we visited going away and the game day environment, that we will cancel our club and season tickets and do something more enjoyable on our Fall Saturdays. Rutgers Athletics is very poor when it comes to customer service and listening to their customer base, and this will hurt them in the long run.

He has to do something our fans don’t even stand on big third downs anymore . They just sit there like mopes.

Just like when public speakers use filler words UH and UM because they want to fill space while they gather their thoughts, the piped in music fills a void for the extreme ADHD generation we have created where people have to be constantly stimulated.

The music has made fans complacent with NOT being loud. I have been around RU sports since the early 2000s and can definitively say that the music has made the stadium exponentially louder but the crowd noise lower.

I am going to think long and hard about ending my almost 20 year season tickets because of how unbearable it is. Out of my group that started as about 10, we are down to 4 season tickets.

Notice it seems like you and Al are the only ones arguing this point anymore. It's known that you don't like marching bands (for whatever bizarre reason). You make it sound like our fans are expecting an EDC rave experience, and even at that we would be getting a shitty one.

PJ Mullen sucks at his job.

Honestly Al, you can really GFYS at this point.
