After beating Nebraska , many are wondering if they should just sign him as new head coach

Why did him and Schiano part ways anyway?

Interestingly enough by hiring Cubit that would close the door for Schiano at Illinois

Who has Ill beat? Nebraska, by name only. But we are going to find out, Nebraska made a MAJOR mistake in firing of Bo and hiring Riley. UNC? They are awful. Don't let that cupcake schedule fool you.

Cubit is 61. Not the kind a guy you give the keys of a program to at his age when you are looking to completely rebuild. I could be wrong.

Cubit was not only OC at RU but also Mizzou and Stanford. He was HC at Western Michigan for several years with mixed results. He started off well, taking them to a couple bowl games then it went south. I doubt the Illini retain him as HC unless they have a really good year.

Someone will correct me if my memory is wrong. Schiano got him from Mizzou as part of a father/son package deal. His son Ryan got the starting QB job as a true frosh over the incumbent Chad Schwenk (sp) who then transferred. Both father and son ended up leaving and were together again when Dad got the HC job at Western Mich.

For the record, don't we have about 8 former assistants currently in HC jobs?

I'm too lazy to count.
