I'm all in on Pike and men's hoops.

This is going to be a transition year in b-ball. We’re getting the pieces together, but we’re not there yet.

If we had Sanders I would feel more confident. Right now, we need someone to emerge to become that guy who can draw attention from the defense.

I’m confident that player is here, or is coming here. We just don’t know who it is yet.

Sanders for another year would have seriously hindered the development of the young guys.

Real coaching staff and tangible improvement. Football is garbage.

I'm with you. Can't wait for BBALL to start. Today was embarrassing/depressing on the gridiron. Pike has a clue, a plan, and the ability to make it happen. I agree with cyrock that this is a transition year but you saw improvement last year and I expect to see improvement this year.

Baker this year is better than Sanders last year. Love Sanders but just saying.

We are so going in the right direction...as a 40 year season ticket holder, legit the most excited I Hve been since the late 70s. Including the Roy Hinson era, the early bob Wenzel era, and the real hope of the Kevin bannon era

Gosh...that’s 20 years

Our name isn’t ready to be called on selection Sunday...but soon

And I have a hunch that it will become a regular occurance thereafter

I'm all-in with basketball and all-out with football. One is a far better use of my time and money than the other. At a birthday dinner with fellow Rutgers fans last night, we were getting pretty excited at what this team will bring for us this year. Yes, there is a lot of uncertainty, but there is even more potential. I'm ready for a transition season, but one that will be a really important learning experience for cornerstone players as we take a huge jump in year 4 and 5.

I'm not confident enough to place a bet on that. Baker has the potential to exceed Sanders this year. I'm not going to doubt that. However, I don't view it as a certainty.

Year end hindsight will provide 20/20 vision on the matter. Though even then, some might attribute the results to one other undervalued player’s departure, not Sanders’.

At the end of the day he was 16-74 from 3 overall and only made 5 3s in conference play (he was hurt and missed 8 games).

The 3 players combined that left were 20-99 20.2% from 3 in conference play and 166-434 38.2% from 2. They were also ranked 4th and 7th in usage in conference play. For 2 guys in a 14 team league to be #4 and #7 tell you the ball was in their hands a ton.

Just be patient with this year's team as it's very, very young. The future is extremely bright so have some fun watching the foundation. Next year we add Mulcahy and hopefully Massoud and the engines will start to roar.

With Pike definitely seeing an uptick in the quality of players we are recruiting vs football. We have quality youth this year and 2019-2020 and beyond will be the start of moving to a bubble NCAA team. The program is experiencing steady growth and improvement. This year may not be a W-L improvement but our young group will be better and continue to develop. Massoid is key to keep climbing the BIG ladder.

I also am excited about B-Ball. I realize the record might not be too good as the schedule is much tougher and we will have 20 BIG games. The nucleus is here and we only lose one senior, Doorson. We should have more depth as I think all 11 scholarship players will be contributors. I am hoping we can pull off several surprising upsets. We need to pack the RAC.

You can’t focus on the record this year. Might sound like a negative but we really don’t know what we have just yet? This should be team that will see post season when these freshman are juniors. Could it happen next year? It’s possible but again, this conference is loaded. If you want to see some exciting hoops, come pack the RAC is right and not just for the league games. Come watch every game so you can see it all come together.

Count me in...

FB an unmitigated disaster...BB legitimate hope and after a little growth I feel legitimate results...can't wait

we'll win no more than 5 big ten games this year but the team is going to be damn fun to watch. Young energetic group with a helluva head coach. 2019-2020 is THE year though.

Was just joking. My freshman year John Battle scored 2 points a game, and three years later he is in NBA. How hard does a kid work to get better.

If we go .500 this year and kick the crap out of SHU again, I will be pumped. Next year we will really start to see the growth lead us to meaningful late season games.

Don’t put unnecessary expectations on Hoops because football is bad. This is a growing year and I don’t expect to finish over .500.

I couldn't agree more. Pikiell, I believe is the real deal unlike the imposter who coaches football.

Mens basketball now has 12 straight losing seasons .There must be a sense of urgency for a winning season because the futility for this team has been a lot longer than for football,ie,27 years without one NCAA bid.

Yet despite evidence of progress in basketball some football fans come here to shut on the program as if there is an adversarial relationship. What's your issue with Pike?

There is progress here and @RUJMM78, you've posted the same thing over and over again... but for the first time in those 27 years, there's actually tangible athletic department backing behind the hoops team. Football being bad should not put extra pressure on a young team. There are hints this team is heading in the right direction, but it might be at least a year away. I'm sure Pikiell and his team want to win every single game, but this team is going to take some time to mesh and learn together. Added pressure isn't going to make them better any faster.

I’m slightly more optimistic, I have a feeling sanders could be addition by subtraction, although those last three games were so amazing to watch. But I’m hoping for a decent season
