I am assuming that Flood is probably around next year unless another off the field incident happens or he is atrocious in the last 2 games.

I wonder if a loss to Army would seal his fate since Army is considered a lower FBS team. I think a loss (even a blowout) to Maryland would not have the same impact.

At 4-8 with a win over Army and loss to Maryland I would not think the school would want to fire Flood unless they really had to.

But ... a loss to Army can be the thing to persuade Julie to pull the trigger. Even if the team loses to Army and then beats Maryland I think it will have the impact needed.

Of course, 2 wins down the stretch and Flood is our guy next year no matter what.

One look in the stands for the MD game and I think you'll re-think that. No fans = new coach. It will cost more to keep him than fire him. RU lost 32% of season tickets between 09-10 (before we tanked in 10), it can happen again.
Ding, ding, ding, and what Scarlet Scourge said, if the rumors prove to be true. But we all know how rumors have turned out on this board. Best to go to Subway on Easton for confirmation.

In this Dunleavy article:
http://www.app.com/story/sports/col...rs-football-vs-army-scouting-report/76033758/

"WHAT A LOSS WOULD MEAN … The Flood hot seat is burning up. If a loss is the final straw, would Flood still be kept on to coach the regular-season finale after the way he was booed at the last home game? It could cast a cloud over Senior Day either way."

I don't think the administration would worry about the effect on Senior Day. But nothing will ever surprise me when it comes to Rutgers' decisions.

No impact, read Barchi's recent comments. He is not spending millions to change the football coach at this time. He specifically states it will take 4-6 years before we should be expect to successfully compete at the B1G level.

I heard that Flood has already been told that if he didn't have a winning season, he was done. Given our schedule, a tall order for sure, but with the blow out losses, he really can't even make a case, in my opinion.

Beyond schedule, I have SERIOUS concerns about the off the field issues; from the academics to the crime spree. While Flood is not PERSONALLY responsible, if it happens under his watch, he either isn't doing his job, or needs to keep a closer watch.

Sorry I seriously doubt anyone in a position of authority would make a blanket statement like that.

I would hope RU won't make a decision either way based on one game vs 2-7 Army. In a perfect world you'd have to assume they are pretty much set in where they're going. Then again nothing is close to perfect at RU.

I would agree about the blanket statement, and if he had "tough luck" losses, I could see patience.

But, the way the season unfolded, I'm sure they won't need too big of a push.

At this point and for the benefit of all... Go Army!!!!!
Not mine, speak for yourself and :

army is the 144th ranked team in the nation.

We should obliterate them. They're essentially playing at the FCS level.

A win here should make no difference whatsoever in how to perceive Flood. That ship sailed the last 10 games.

You would think the talent differential between ARMY and our conference mates will be felt immediately by the players.
The only problem is they could be so unprepared, ARMY could shock them

Yeah I think this is a lose-lose type of game unless we beat them by 3 scores. Meanwhile, Army could make their season by beating a 'B1G team'.

What a fan you are!

Go to the Rutgers locker room and say that.
Not that I condone rooting against our boys but I understand the pro-sports mentality that suggests losing may be better in the long run. While no 1st rounders would come our way with a loss, we'd pretty much be guaranteed a new coach (assuming we aren't already as some generally reliable posters are intimating). Personally, I couldn't root against our boys in 2013 for the USF game and I can't do it now either.

But I understand it.

Nope, there is no understanding it.
