Zone D was effective in iowa’s comeback against Indy. We’re going to see a lot of it on Sunday. Spencer and Simpson should be licking their chops at that. I actually like Mulcahey in the high post/foul line when attacking a zone and finding Big Cliff in the weak side low post when the D collapses on him.

I doubt falling back into a zone will be the game plan against RU. The scouting report likely says to apply as much on ball perimeter pressure as possible.

Murray credited the zone with aiding their comeback during his post game interview. We’re not the best shooting team so we’ll probably see some zone from Iowa given that they use it a bit more than we have seen so far this year.

I expect to see Iowa try to do what Maryland did - 2/3 zone that doubles Omoruyi in the post and forces us to shoot from outside. Their offense is much better than Maryland's.

Rutgers doesn't want to take a lot of threes, but the zone forces more of that - and we really don't have a ton of deep threats. The zone also limits Omoruyi if they double any time he touches the ball.

I think we're too good with ball movement and guard size to effectively guard us in man for a team as defensively limited as Iowa is.

I think Maryland has better perimeter defenders who were able to extend without selling out.

I picture Iowa being only little better than Bucknell in attempting to stack the box. Can’t remember what type of D Wake played but they also gave our guards breathing room. It allowed Paul and Caleb to calmly run the offense. If you don’t have fairly quick defensive guards, stacking the box against us is likely to backfire because we have guys with a midrange game and we rebound our missed mid range jumpers at a fairly high clip.

So far the script for beating us has been to make our guards uncomfortable and force them to make mistakes (whether it be our starters or our subs due to injury).

Iowa’s zone was unfortunately very effective. We looked lost on offense against their zone D for most of the first half (Paul and Cliff were neutralized). I would throw a zone at us every game until we prove we can successfully attack one.
