Is There a Player That RU Needs To Keep NJ Recruits Home?

The usual belief is to keep the top NJ player so he can be a pied piper for the rest. But it never really works out that way but a tackle comes to mind I think his name is Hansard. But he would be a nice keeper even if no one follows as we need good mobile linemen

That's the name that popped in my head although I don't know what recruits think. But a big name to hang your hat on. IMO, Micah Clark and Drew Singleton are others that may have that draw power. It seems to me the big names leaned more towards skill positions last year while it is towards linemen and such in this year's NJ recruiting class.

Agreed, Fred Hansard seems to be the key domino as one of the top 5 best players in the state and at a position that RU desperately needs to build some depth and improve the skill. Also think RU has the best shot at him vs some of the other top 5-10 guys in the state based on quotes I've seen.

In the past, when we've hauled in a top state prospect like Anthony Davis or Kenny Britt or Savon Huggins, did it really have much effect on the rest of the class?

The short answer to OP's question is NO. Not then, not now, not ever. There is no Pied Piper. Only winning will accomplish that objective.

how did that work out for Maryland this year?

Thanks for asking! Despite losing our two best in-state recruits relatively last second and implementing an entirely new coaching staff, we still finished with a top 40 class on rivals and 4 in-state (MD + DC) four stars.

The #1 target on my board is Jonathan Lewis. #1 QB in the state and perfect QB for this system. And he would certainly bring a bunch of big time NJ recruits with him.

Recruit the local lineman. Go for the best available skill position no matter the state.

Most programs build success on the local developed lineman.

There is no one player that will lead the others to the Banks, winning will do it and winning a B1G title won't hurt either.
