Issa

#1 - I've not missed a Rutgers B-BALL game in 20 some years, so I guess I’ve seen the past three years. I’ve personally witnessed many jr’s being mediocre and become really good seniors. In fact I’m still hopeful that Doorson does just that. Now I’m hoping Issa does the same.
Maybe its the black uniform but tonight Doorson looked fit, ready and anxious to go out and do some battle.

Last Friday I had the feeling that we wound run at the lead all night and come up short. Tonight whether was we're 2 back or 2 ahead I felt that we would make out plays (free throws especially) and run them off the court. It's pretty clear from here that RU and PSU's programs are going in different directions. We can't be picked last anymore.

Can we stop with the Issa talk already

Root for the kid to play better like everyone on the team

As of right now, he has been passed on the depth charts by players playing better basketball on a team that is starting to win

That is program building

If thiam plays better ...the coach will give him his chance and he will have to earn it with results

If we are to be a successful program...this is going to happen. It’s just that thiam is the first noticeable upperclassman that has been passed on the depth chart by youth

Given the fact that at times I may cross the line criticizing players I am not the best guy to carry the message......

How can you not root for Issa. He seems like a good person on and off the court. He is an easy guy to root for. I really want to see him get his confidence back and help us in some games down the stretch.

Well said!

Gotta believe he was sick or hurt, as we could have used him for a few minutes on defense when Harper got in foul trouble.

McConnell played good D today. Not positive, but I believe Caleb came in when Harper got his 4th.

Both my wife and I really pull for Issa (as we do for all Scarlet Knights). Last year was great when his game improved, hitting some 3s, playing D, seeing home drive to the hoop and his post up game. But I am worried that he has regressed in some of those areas when the team needs him to be improving. I really hope yesterday’s benching can turn on the light for him going forward.

actually, if you listen , his health issues started weeks ago and were mentioned in the OSU game by one announcer--just give it a rest

Really hope Thiam can get healthy and back into form - we're a better team when he is. That said, he's been really struggling the last several games, and I'm a little shocked that I didn't even realize he was a DNP until this thread.

It's not just the last several games. Not sure you can underestimate how deep a funk Thiam is in on offense. The first three games of the year he scored double figures and was 10-18 from three. Since then he hasn't had a single game in which he made more than two baskets and has shot 22.4% (13-58) from the field and 19.4% (7-36) from three. He made as many field goals in the first three games (13) as he's had in the fourteen games he's played since then and had 3 more threes (10 in three games vs. 7 in fourteen).

Yes, we would all like to see Thiam get it together and do well, but it's really kind of hard to envision right now.

I will root for Issa Thiam 365 days a year. One of the nicest kids you will ever meet.

That said, if we are looking at the situation as it stands, he does not fit into the rotations at this point in the season. When three guards are playing even more so.

Rutgers fans should root for all players to perform to their best ability. Achieving such results rarely happens because opponents defender has a large say on what happens .In Thiam's case he hasn't been aggressive enough to use his height advantage to post up or drive to the basket.

Issa is a great guy, and a great player, he has a lot of potential abilities but just hasn’t used them to the fullest form and that’s why he hasn’t played. Coach said, it’s not little league, he can’t olay everybody, but Issa will play again he’s confident. That’s a challenge to Issa to pick up his game and perform to his abilities. I hope he does soon as should every Rutgers fan
