Acuff and Hayes MIA. Martini hardly serviceable.

To me, these 2 were going to be a KEY to getting quality buckets and they are nowhere. Coaching? Chemistry?

What gives

We have Dylan Harper as our point guard and we struggle to get open outside looks for our “shooters.” I’ll let you take a guess what the problem is. Hint it’s not the star pg who’s a walking bucket.

If we weren't witnessing it, we might not believe it. Total bummer.

The bench is not great but also not why RU is losing to the likes of Kennesaw and Princeton. Help defense and hard-nose rebounding have been hallmarks of the Pikiell era and this TEAM is awful at both. RU plays ZERO help defense and can’t out rebound Princeton. Therein lies the major problem. Not sure why Pike can’t get these guys to buy into the two things that are key to victory especially way from the RAC!

We run no plays for them to get shots. Coaching coaching coaching.
Our only ability to pass/assist is in the paint off ISO. Harper plays best downhill. And whatever Derkack is doing out there is also downhill. Davis too. So that’s the offense, for better or worse. Well, worse obviously. We’re not equipped to create looks on the perimeter.

Yeah, unfortunately, with 12 games (plus St. John’s) as a good sized sample size, the book is pretty much written:

PIKE FAILED THE PORTAL

- Hayes and Acuff invisible (and didn’t even play in the 2nd half)

- Martini barely played the previous few games, and only played a lot today because he isn’t overmatched ATHLETICALLY against Princeton and because JWill and JMike both had 4 fouls

- Only Derkack has been a consistent contributor, but he has wild swings within games of solid play and then boneheaded play, plus he can’t shoot.

The fact that JMike is starting tells you he failed the portal before the opening tip.
