I was sitting there last night and as usual some underrecruited kids who play hard and play incredible in your face D beat the more highly recruited kids. Of course the RAC is magical, but so is a system in which frosh and 3 stars can thrive when they are simply tougher and adhere to the system. Double team the post and pack in the zone and Indiana is history.

Tidbits:
Pretty certain Harper will chose Rutgers. Forget about everyone but Duke.

UConn game at UBS isn't happening.

I am unhappy about 2 Big Ten teams playing in the Jimmy V. Tuesday at MSG. Needs to be Rutgers every 3 years or so. Big stage. Bigger cause. I will meet with Bob Valvano Tuesday at dinner and try to get to the bottom of this.

Please Start with ..RU should be in the Jimmy V classic every year . And we will settle being every other year

We do have a system and it was on full display last night.

The system we play with has requirements. These same requirements aren’t as important and needed by schools who play and win with “better recruits”.

There is a reason Pike schedules the way he does. The energy that is required to win is not finite.

I am beyond thrilled with how the program is going. It is amazing. Let’s not ruin things and change our schedule to appease fans and run the risk of either losing and not making the NCAAs or emptying the gas tank so we are forced to win by trying to out score our opponents.

We can still play the Jimmy V classic every year …and still keep the same schedule

22 big ten games
Jimmy V classic
Seton hall
Power 6 game
6 cupcakes

Get RID of playing temple in Connecticut, st bona in Canada , home and home with umass……and play the abkce scheduke and it’s the same

What I don’t know is what is behind the joke tournament that we run and how it maximizes games we can play.

What happens if we don’t run the joke tournament

It is a fine line and Pike’s way has worked with the power of the RAC. However , I truly believe some of these holiday tournaments and they do not need to be Maui but I am thoroughly convinced that playing 3 teams on neutral sites in November would drastically improve our road record and get some more road wins. The RAC energizes our team to play at an elite defensive level but we can get experience with the neutral games to play away from the RAC and then use the energy in the road BIG 10 venues to our benefit.

I think it will be a lot easier to schedule that way without worry of losing a few tougher non conference games when Gavin Griffiths gets here, if and when recruits like Dylan Harper, Tyler Betsey among other top 50, 100 recruits give commitments here the next few years we target.

That’s interesting. It’s hard to disagree about not being able to play with that intensity night in and night out. My opinion is different in that we don’t seem ready when we go out on the road or in one of these empty arenas. De paul. St bona and the two this year injuries non withstanding. Gotta figure out a way to win those games that are important and there for the taking. I think that all the cupcakes leading to them is fools gold

Then we can only schedule 29 games (I think that's the number) instead of 31.

I think you meant that the energy that is required to win is not infinite, not finite.

I think you miss the point.

For the most competitive guys, this desire to dominate is close to infinite. That is why they play the game, because there is no better feeling than the one you get after expending this kind of energy successfully. You have shown the opponent that he has to take you very seriously. This is a team game, so you need to show the opponent that your team is going to dominate them.

The most important problem to be overcome is getting such competitors up for the games where they tend to feel superior to the competition. Expecting to go out there, go through the motions, and win is your main enemy.

If you can punch a team who feels superior in the mouth right away, the result is always going to be positive. They can react by trying to punch you back, or they can fold. In either case, you are going to earn their respect, unless you fold in the end.

Clearly it is much harder to find that energy when you go to an opposing gym where everyone there is rooting against you. But the energy to dominate is still there, if the coach and his players can figure out how to harness it.

Such a team is not going to fade because you have dug down deep too many times. Every time you did down deep is going to be a plus going forward, not a negative - because you know you are capable of doing so.

Dylan choosing RU would be incredible !!! Hope we continue to show that we are the right choice.

I would love to play UConn . Home and home or at the Garden.

Rutgers should be in jimmy V every year. Please help make that happen!

Let’s say we disagree. I believe the team had no gas in the tank vs. Notre Dame. I believe in walls, especially for freshman.

You had me at Harper. He helps us make the very difficult transition from a good program to a great one.

Jimmy V every year is a pipedream. That's not going to happen. However, every other year makes sense. My fear: ESPN is involved with the scheduling and we know how it feels about RU.

With Duke heavily in the picture, I still have my doubts about Dylan committing to RU.

Would be great if Harper chooses RU. "From your lips to God's ears". Nice if you think only Duke is our competitor but that's a formidable foe ... Jay Williams anyone.

Jay Williams changed his mind after the Duke visit.
Dylan already took a visit to Duke in October.

My buddy who spoke with a Rens coach said “Harper and Betsey package is a done deal to duke and that we can’t match the money they are offering”

We would have beaten Notre Dame if we made adjustments on defense. Had nothing to do with gas in the tank. We overplayed the perimeter and they back cut us over and over.
We had so much gas in the tank to only play offense and score close to our high on offense last year but nothing on defense. That was the worst defense we have played in 3-4 years. Had nothing to do with gas in tank. Common now. !!

Harper’s dad played in the NBA, I doubt NIL will be the sole driver for him

If it was a done deal Harper wouldn't have gone to the game on Saturday

I feel like Betsey is a reach for Duke. They hardly ever recruit out of the top 50.

I doubt this matters as Harper is only stopping at college for a quick visit. it might be the dream but I don't think it's the only scenario that matters.

Don’t shoot the messenger just telling you what I heard

Not disputing anything thar anyone hears…but of all players …this is what I see Tyler betsey

Duke has Mbago in this class of 2023 5 star small forward from Gil St Bernard And has a verbal from top 50 class of 2024, a shooting guard /small forward type

I know players want to be prove themselves to be the best …but do you risk going there and being behind those two if you can’t beat them out ?

Going to be real curious to see how this plays out

He can come to RU and has a 28 minute a game slot waiting for him to play along side dykan , Gavin and Derrick ….not bad company to grow and develop with ….

RU every two years would be great and it would be a natural to have RU-NC State maybe every 4th year.
