It's on CBSSports that Shot Didn't Count

Pike was with his quote. Unfortunately, he’s being made to look like a real “wimp” or “kiss arse” whatever term you prefer. Not Parrish’ fault - that’s how it’s being spun all over the media. Even Pike wouldn’t give them the benefit of the doubt on Holden being out. That’s not possible. As nice as he is, there’s no way Pike meant that it could’ve been hard to see if Holden stepped out. They had to have just gotten the rule wrong. Or forgotten he stepped out.

After watching the replay several times, it’s obvious that the baseline ref had an unobstructed view of Holden jumping in from out of bounds.

So at least 2 refs missed calls on that sequence (and all 3 refs missed the late start on the game clock).

Guys, stop with the semantics or what Pike may or many not have said or seen. The bottom line are the officials BLEW the effin' call. You cannot go out on your own accord and then come back inbounds and be the first to touch the ball. PERIOD!

I also think Steve was being careful with his words. He did not want to blatantly call out the refs. They owe him.

True enough. -They owe him B1G-time. Their error literally took away what should have been a "W".

And yes, I guess there can be debate on RU's end game strategy, but regardless of whether someone feels that was the right way to play things or not, the blatant violation that was missed was the actual "dagger".

Hopefully that HUGE mistake will end up getting RU some beneficial calls down the line, (no pun intended). -And boy, do I look forward to the next time OSU comes to the RAC/JMA!

Anyone who’s followed during his time here knows that his saying anything meant it was 100% blown by the refs

Pike was quoted as stated in the Parrish article -I think it was also in one of the NJ articles.

But he was talking about thinking the guy bringing up the ball may have stepped out. He was never saying “hmm I thought maybe he (referring to Holden) stepped out from my angle but I’m not sure what the refs saw”. And yes, it kind of does matter a bit. If he were actually referring to Holden it would be like he was saying publicly that it was close. Not even Buckeye nation would deny Holden was blatantly out of bounds.

There will be no payback. Pikell isn't calling out the Refs because he's a class act and never blames the refs despite the refjobs we (and a lot of others) get in the B1G.
Coach Fran would literally be suspended the next game after a 10 minute profanity laced tirade he would give in the postgame presser. Defend your team, Pike.

While I agree Pike doesn't seem to "Defend his team" I kinda like a take the high road guy. It's a refreshing departure from the "Look at me" no class posturing pervading sports. And all the (LOL) "Role Models" within.

Disagree. If every coach just went quietly every time there is an egregious error such as this then nothing would ever change. Commissioner Warren is a freakin wussy - he allowed Michigan to determine their basketball schedule during the 2020 Covid year and then allowed them to be declared B1G champs based on playing 3 less games than almost every other team in the conference including Illinois who won 16 games versus UM's 14. Pressure needs to be exerted on these arses because otherwise they just sit back and act like everything is fine as long as OSU and UM and MSU aren't the ones getting screwed. Izzo would have had the refs back on the floor reviewing that last play, and Warren would have been making a public announcement today stating that those game officials have been suspended and that the results of the last play were unacceptable, etc, etc. But instead RU gets an apology. This BS needs to stop in the B1G.

Yes they “own’ him so say nothing and they will continue to abuse our program.
This BS abuse by B1G Refs against Rutgers has been going on too long.

He ain't getting squat. We've been hosed plenty before and still get abused. It's the guys who continue to work the refs and threaten to call them out they're afraid of. Not the coaches who go away silently.
Exhibit A. Greg Shiano 1.0 vs. 2.0

Somewhere in the middle works for me. Pick your doors. This was one to earn equity.

Sure, I get that. But let's not start looking for reasons to get rid of one of the best coaches ever had here,

We are a successful program because Pike wouldn’t do that.

Do we want our players worrying about whether officials are making the right calls. Do we want to see players constantly complaining to officials? It all starts from the top.

Reason 579 why I really like our coach!

Screw. You have me confused with someone else. I'm far from that dude. I have my criticisms just like me and my wife yet we're still married cause I know better.

Oh no, I was talking more theoretically, not specifically like you want him gone. I can't imagine anyone would be anything but tickled by Pike's job here.

Having an issue with his comportment however is the first chink in his Awesomeness Armor. I'd hate to see it be turned into an actual issue at some point in the future.

🤜🤛 (Fist bump? LOL)

Covid's over. We can shake again 🤝 (just keep washing your hands)😉

I would rather Steve make a bigger stink at the end of the game, put up a better fight, etc.....and then be gracious to the media later on, like he was

you have a small window of opportunity to alter things, while the refs are still on the court.....it is then, or nothing...

Sadly, 1984, Covid's not gone. But we are definitely in a much better place.
Yes L man. And I have zero issue with anyone wanting to protect themselves including the flu. Perhaps one good by product of this experience.
I know it's really not over but more of a manageable thing. Just got my flu shot and on the fence about booster #4.
(Apologies for possibly taking this thread off course)

While it's not perfect, I encourage you to get #4. We're seeing much more RSV and Flu, but still some COVID in the region .

My daughter and I will be wearing masks at the game. I may do that in the future during peak flu time even with COVID out of the equation.
