It's the front end of the one&ones that have hurt.

Most times the complaint about the disparately of foul shot attempts on the road can be traced to Rutgers misses so many front end shots at the line. Down the stretch of close games before the bonus, this has killed us. Clean this up, and it would add 2 to 3 more wins and make post season doable.

What about the road losses during which Rutgers attempted more free throws than the home team? Because that happened a few times last season.

Happened three times last year.

@Purdue - lost 89-54. We were 11/18 (.611) and they were 11/16 (.688)
@Ohio State - lost 76-62. We were 8/17 (.471) and they were 9/13 (.692)
@Indiana - lost 89-73. We were 23/30 (.767) and they were 23/29 (.793)

On average, we had 4.1 fewer FTAs on the road than our opponents (17.5 to 21.6). At home against B1G/BE opponents, we averaged 3.1 FTA more than our opponents (20.2 to 17.1)

It's also when the fouls are called as well. Garbage time make up fouls do nothing but add to the pain.
That is probably more significant in creating a disparity in the number of FT attempts.

There are a maximum of three 1-and-1's called in each half, potentially on the 7th, 8th, and 9th foul. But the 1-and-1 is not called if the 7/8/9 foul is a shooting foul, technical foul, or player control foul. So while it is possible for a total of 6 1-and-1's to be called each game, I would guess the a whole lot less are actually called. I looked at our recent games vs Pitt, MSU, Wisc, and SH, and Rutgers had a total of 2 1-and-1's called in each game. Even if we missed the front end of both 1-and-1's each game (we didn't), that means we only lost 2 FT attempts per game.

Solid analysis.
