I've been waiting such a LOOONG Time for RU to BEAT PSU

Don't need to bc it's crap. It's junk math taking into account people you chose to RS, injuries, and defections. Using that metric nobody has 85. It was 65 or whatever the NCAA sanctioned number was.

Does that make your loss at home more bearable ? We had two converted DL staring on the OL. We had walk-ons starting on ST.

No, not happy with any loss but not sure where the jump comes from a slim win and future domination. Again, do you honestly think your o line won't be putrid? Do you truly believe your 3rd string D line is that dominant?

Vk, I got you down for a Rutgers upset....even though we're going to be better than last year, you guys will be worse, and we're at home

I agree...except for the "at least 3 TDs " part.

Why don't you think we can this year? We will have the most disruptive defensive line in the history of Rutgers this year. And last year we saw that even a good QB usually struggle to overcome constant pressure. I for see another extremely low scoring game this year as last year and in that case I will take the defense over the offense and go with an RU win!

you'll be better, but not better enough to beat Rutgers without the aid of 5 turnovers.

Upsets happen, so expect one 9/19.
That's if Rutgers isn't favored going into the game..
Never know if the wise Owls have a game plan that will take all of Philly by surprise (on 9/05) and send the Nittnay Lions back to Happy Valley with their tails between their legs.:cool2:
Then have a bunch of raging Bulls come to town on the 12th giving the Nits all they can handle and more, essentially ending any hopes the Nits have for a good season.:D

When Rutgers comes in favored, the :boxing: will have been taken out of Penn St and Rutgers will go home with an easy victory.

Got to go now , leaving the Island , Tattoo spotted the plane [roll]

C'mon now. I know it's your home board but let's get real here.

haha - no, I've heard of it. I'm just slow.

But don't be surprised if RU pulls out the win..
It just won't be easy and most ( right now) don't expect a RU win in the type of atmosphere Rutgers be facing at Beaver Stadium.
I just happen to be an optimist that feels RU has a chance to win in every game they play, against any opponent they face
Upsets do happen

The old we will be better and everyone else is worse argument. Good luck with that.

Am I any less of a fan for sitting in Ohio Stadium last year thinking Rutgers had no chance against the eventual national champs?
No I felt thw same way sitting in the same stadium. PSU ain't OSU.....

3rd string DL ? Our DT's are on all the pre-season watch lists. Zettel.... Remember him?

The 'aid' of the 5 turnovers? Didn't our defense have something to do with those? Or were they all gifts from your mediocre QB ?

some were bad reads, some resulted from pressure from your ends, since departed and Zettel. Your new ends will be going up against an NFL caliber tackle in Keith Lumpkin and a senior tackle Denman, which will allow us to focus more attention on Zettel. This year we won't have as many pass attempts, and will instead run the ball down the heart of the defense.

This year, the gift shop is closed.

You'll also get to see a 4-star DE from Red Bank Regional H.S. start for us now at one of the departing DE spots. I'm sure you'll all be rooting for him.

This year were not going to try to run, we're going to do it. Last year, Paul James averaged 3.6 ypc and Desmond Peoples averaged 4 ypc. This year, with no Mike Hull in the middle, new starters at the ends, I expect us to do even better.

Hull will surely be missed, but Wartman, Bell and Cabinda will do very well...they all have a ton of playing time under their belts. And I think both new DE starters will be solid. I'd also say that if you are heavily unbalanced towards the run, then we will adjust and force you to throw. So your new QB better be ready to go. BIG road game early on as a starter.

Getting pressure on Hack will be huge. Also, need competent QB play. They will stuff our running game. I have no idea how we'll fare. Ask me in September after the WSU game...

I was referring to the 6 plus sacks your first team O gave up in one half of a spring game.......keep up.

The rules in our spring game are if a defender touches the QB, even with one finger, it counts as a sack. Touching a 6' 4'" - 234 lb. Christian Hackenburg, who's built like a linebacker, vs. tackling him is quite a contrast. However I will acknowledge your point that our OL is a work in progress. Last years line would grade out at about a D- This years line probably will finish at C-

We both watched the game, most if not all were sacks. I will concede Hack is a bear to bring down but the line was horrible. Until your 260lb JUCO tackle proves he can block anyone I will reserve a grade

Funny that you mention him. Franklin had a PC yesterday and his name came up. He has been pumping iron since he arrived on campus in February and is now up to 299. I suppose we'll both have to wait a couple months to see whose prediction is more accurate.

Sorry Al but Denman hasn't done anything to this point and is a huge question mark for your team.

To the second point, good luck with that.

"The rules in our spring game are if a defender touches the QB, even with one finger, it counts as a sack."
Could be that rule is in effect because Hackenburg despite being built like a linebacker, goes down easily [laughing]
( just having some fun) [winking]

Both O-lines need to prove themselves after last year's game.
Neither OL stood out on running plays and both didn't protect the QB
Hack was sacked 5 times and Nova 3.
Rutgers passing game fared much worse because of the 5 INTs Nova threw.

We can try to knock the other team's D, but both stood out last year at High Point and feel both will stand out at Beaver.
It's whose offense will stand out ( more) on 9/19 that will be the key to winning.
I look for RU to try to run the ball down the Nit's throats , while PSU tries to destroy RU with its passing game.
Both strategies need the OL to do their job to be successful and RU needs its QB to make the Nit D worry about the pass, in order to keep them from keying on the run.

Just reported this week that he is 298.

Although this may prove to be a problem in the B1G, shouldn't be much of an issue against RU. He may outweigh the entire DL by 30 lbs lol.
Your act is old and tiresome and as usual uninformed.

.It's a bit early for me to pick a score.BUT RU will POSITIVELY win that game.AND in the most secret place in their little hearts, every nit fan knows it.
You can't be positive we will win, the players will determine that, coupled with the beauty and spirit of the game that you completely ignore by making statements like that.
And NO...PSU fans don't feel that way in their heart, so why say it?

Of course you do. Don't you guys have complete inexperience on the OL? You guys severely overestimate Paul James.

Penn State's starting OT's are extremely talented and will, play in the NFL one day, the Center is a 5th year senior who has multiple years starting experience, one of the guards is a New Jersey High School All- American who was voted most improved player at the Blue- White game (a red-shirt soph who arrived as a starter prematurely forced to play cause of sanctions), the other guard will be manned by the 2 converted D-lineman but both are now upper classmen and experienced.

If you really know college football, talent with "experience" trumps talent with "no experience" and very seldom do lines carry over from year to year without improvement. An example would be PSU's Oline from 2004 to 2005 (PSU went from a losing season to 3rd in the country, Gee how did that happen?) the point being don't expect PSU's O-line to be terrible again, based on PSU's history its just wishful thinking on Rutgers part. Couple that with a stable of RB's PSU didnt have last year and an "elite" defense I think its gonna be a long night for Rutgers in Happy Valley. All I have to say to Rutgers' fans is good luck you're gonna need it.

If we get decent QB play, this game will not be decided till the 4th quarter. We will be good enough to compete, and if you win it will be earned.

And if you really know college football you would know you don't go from horrible to good in one year. As much talent as you think you had you put together one of, if not the worst line in the conference. Now all of a sudden they will be great. Trust us we went through this a few years ago and o line don't progress like skill guys.

A night game at PSU is a little bit different than the friendly confines of Nebraska or the subdued mid-day atmosphere at OSU.

I agree with most of what you said but I have no idea how you can say that our OTs will be playing in the NFL at this point.

The OL wil likely be mediocre to average this year, which is fantastic relatively speaking.
