IZOD center for Big 10 Games

If we put a winning product on our floor, I am sure RAC will be rocking. That is what I think we all want. This board is full of posters wanting a coaching change and an influx of new players. This is the same groundhog day scenario since I graduated in 1983(we were actually not bad then thanks to Hinson an Battle). What exactly do you think is going to miraculously going to happen until the new practice facility is built to create one ounce of new excitement for this program. While we are waiting for $100 million to be donated, create a buzz with a new environment for Big 10 games and try to market it to fans, students an recruits. Just a thought.

Definitely not at the IZOD Center.

But, I would consider playing games at the Rock or maybe Barclays. Nothing more than 2-3 games per year. This would be somewhat similar to what Nova does at Wells Fargo.

this doesn't makes sense...fans and no students are coming out to games now...so you want RU to have to PAY $ to play at Izod for less fans and less students to attend in a cavernous arena.....you cant create buzz if the team is deplorable just because you play in arena 30 miles away it makes no sense and does not create excitement

Nova is right around the corner and considered a big time Philly school. RU playing at the venues you suggested is like Drexel playing at Wells Fargo

RU fans do not show up for games at Barclays, MSG and Izod...we have about 15 years of evidence that shows it. So yes when the program is successful..and I mean NCAA successful not 500 or slightly above, then your idea might work. Next year RU is playing a home game at MSG vs Wisconsin. I can guarantee you attendance is going to be poor on RUs part.

After a tasty dinner and two glasses of chianti, I now return to the message board to find the same tone of defeatism that has been Rutgers basketball over the past several decades. Tim Pernetti was great because he dreamed big. His coaching choices did not work out, granted-but loved the enthusiasm. Right now if we stay put it appears we are dead in the water the next 5 years. Why not try something new. Are we not the State University. Our now returned Governor is back from national politics and maybe he might have even a rooting interest in our constituency. My point is why not try to WIN NOW. Yes, nobody is showing up to the RAC. An empty IZOD will still look better than an empty RAC which looks like a high school gym on national tv. Do you actually think recruits who have never been to a packed RAC have any idea how great that environment is? I think they see a worn out building with a long history of losing. Eddie Jordan wants to be here. He wants to inspire. Staying the course may work out but lets' at least show some gumption and try to come up with something to shake things up.

you are trolling now...and Hobbs would show something serious by canning Eddie at the end of the year..that would be visionary

I am only serious in that I think we need to think and dream bigger. I think you are right. Probably reaching. I wish Coach Jordan all the success and hope he can stay and turn things around. I really believe he bleeds scarlet as I know the rest of us do.

With little chance of a new basketball facility on the horizon, any chance we play Big 10 games in a larger venue closer to NYC? Could draw more interest and possibly show incoming players a chance for a larger local stage.
Lousy Basketball + Large Venue = Morgue

I have looked at the plans for new practice facility and it is impressive. If I had to guess the earliest that money would be raised and facility constructed would be 5 years from now. If IZOD is just sitting there, why not use it? Why not look at structures that are intact right now as alternative to making program look more attractive to recruits and fans. AD Hobbs helped forge construction of Prudential Arena in Newark and got it done. Why not think outside the box and try to create some excitement for a program that needs a shot in the arm.

The intent is to have the practice facility complete within 2 years.

And playing games at the Izod Center addresses none of the issues that Rutgers faces from lack of a practice facility today.

Right now, doesn't matter ... We are losing at the RAC ... Only good things are there is air-conditioning and less chance of football recruits seeing a 30 point loss.

Play at IZOD , wtf. This is a bad idea, how about we fill the RAC with more then 2k first.

Did somebody say "play 2-3 games PER YEAR at the BARCLAY'S CENTER"????

Thank you. Than you very much. I needed a really, really, really good laugh. Why the hell would the basketball team from the State University of New Jersey play home games in NY? That's just stupid.
