I'm sure he'll end up at a lower D1, like an American, FDU, etc. He has the speed.
Agreed... he'll find a home with a team looking to utilize his speed and ability to defend. I know it can't be easy to ride the bench for game after game. If his goal is to play more, getting on a low major team is his best option. I wish him the best too and thank him for his time on the banks.

Speed maybe but honestly - no shooting skill or really, passing skills. If he goes to a low major it’ll be as a bench player.
There are a lot of D1 schools out there who would take a chance on someone like JM. He’ll find a spot.

He has his shortcomings but he worked his butt off on defense. My favorite moment was his full court pressure against the Purdue PG in the 2021-22 season that was so intense the guy was forced to pass, it was a bad pass that led to a turnover and score by Rutgers.

Stetson assistant Jonathan Mitchell will have interest in Rutgers transfer portal players, as will head coach Jay Young at Fairfield.
It’s a shame he never developed into a key player on the team. I really liked his attitude and hustle. I was hoping he could develop into a Caleb type player. I wish him all the best and hope he finds a good fit out there
He's absolutely a D1 player. This isn't a Souf situation. Jalen had offers from Wichita State, Akron, Colgate... All solid mid or low majors. He can start for a Patriot League team or be in the rotation in the MAC or at the right A10 school.
I believe he is from Maryland. If he wants to remain local, a UMBC or a Mt St Mary type of school seems feasible.
100 percent respectfully disagree. Aside from defense (and he had a tough time covering his man on screens) he offered nothing on offense. Cam started for a patriot league team and he is exponentially better than Jalen on every level.
DII or low manor rotation at best. This is NOT to minimize any contributions he made to team culture or practice. We thank him for that!

He brought needed defensive intensity last year in some important spots. Just couldn't progress this season. He will find a home someplace and be good for them.

Favorite memory of Jalen was when he was supposed to redshirt his freshman year. Geo went down with an injury. Jalen went to Pikiell’s office and said I am ready to play to help the team anyway I can. He gave up his redshirt for the team.

Transfers out can be good or bad. With plans to upgrade the position, this a good one.i

i love the "good luck on a lower level team" comments. Why not just say best of luck? No one on this board knows how he will develop or where he will end up.
A couple of years ago, with the team starting to slide, Pike apparently scrapped plans to redshirt him. He was inserted in the rotation and he injected a much needed defensive boost that helped “right the ship”. That was big at the time. Good luck to him.

All of these transfers we will see, barring any shockers, are by design to make room for higher level kids. We are recruiting at a new level. That causes attrition and addition of talent.
Having 0 transfers the prior year absolutely shows the culture Pike has built but it’s time to step it up and he knows it as do some of the players looking for more PT through the portal.
My favorite memory of Jalen is the Wisconsin game at the RAC last year. I think RU ended up losing a close game, but Jalen played a fair amount of minutes and basically shut down Chucky Hepburn when he was on him.
