Joe Mixon Video Released

Unreal how hard he hit her. Like I'm not condoning anything at all, but why did he feel the need to jump right to the vicious right hook? Couldn't have maybe attempted to stop her pushing him or maybe walked away? And I recall the OU people saying this wasn't a big deal and would have no impact? And the team basically swept it under the rug and suspended him? Mixon is toast, Stoops is probably toast too. That was just as bad as Ray and worse than the FSU QB who was immediately kicked of the team. So this kid's life should be over.

Who, exactly, is this soon-to-be-incarcerated, ain't-nobody-gonna-remember-his-dumb-ass, hood rat, again?

well folks.. technically she hit him first... and technically she grabbed his throat before he hit her back... so technically he defended himself. So you gotta ask yourself if she was a guy, who would be guilty of what?

This is where this ideal of equal rights gets tricky. If equal rights exist...then i'm afraid this guy is off the hook.

You don't have a good sense of the legal definition of "self defense".

possibly but she shouldn't have touched him either... Without a doubt If this were 2 men (even a small 120 lb man) we would view this differently.

And don't mistake me for defending him. I dont believe its right. However i acknowledge that equal rights (treatment) exists, and its a far more slippery slope to legislate a law that requires men to show some type of restraint before being able to defend themselves. How much force needs to be applied before a man can defend himself against a woman?

Very similar to police violence. Reaching for a knife while you are 30 ft away is ok to shoot? 20 ft? 10ft?
How much is too much? Because of this i'm afraid you have to stick to who struck first, and that way nobody should ever strike anyone.

He came in there looking for trouble. He got in the girls face and basically antogonized her. Hes dirt

This was from 2014. He was already punished for this. Including a year suspension and a misdemeanor charge.

He won't be charged again. As for the football team he already served a year suspension for this. I don't think they do anything.

Uh oh.

I'm sure Bob Stoops will be suspended for the game against a G5 patsy and this story will never be heard from again.

what was he found guilty of? NVM i looked it up. I'm really surprised he pled guilty.

Two wrongs dont make a right.....two rights make a u-turn....thats what he should have done.

He never should have played again at OU. For shame.

Ray Rice could not even get a free agent summer try out after his video , and he was an NFL All Pro not long before the video came out. Mixon's punch seems even more vicious, although Ray's wife didn't hit him first in the video.

Oklahoma is nuts to let him on the team.

When will you guys finally believe Ray didn't get a shot because he wasn't good anymore. If he was still running well he would have been given a shot by someone. Risk wasn't worth the reward.

Every time I see this posted, I also have to remind you that year the Ravens the were awful, and look at their OL to say the least.

Flacco had one of his worst years throwing the ball, and no one rushed for any success behind that line.

Were the odds Ray was running out of time, yes? But, was he completely washed up at that point? I doubt it.

That's the go to excuse. Yet, nobody gave him a shot. Not even teams like Pitt or Cowboys who have great good will with the commissioner. I didn't invent the "wrong side of 30" phrase but I've seen it ring true time and time again.

Nobody gave Ray a shot because he sued the NFL even after his reduced suspension. Penny wise , dollar foolish strategy.
Everybody gets a try out that costs the teams nothing, Ray screwed himself plain and simple. Like the other poster wrote even the other RBs on the Ravens ran for less per carry than Ray his last season. The line that season was that putrid. Even a lot more sacks on Flacco.

The lawsuit, the video , the horrible publicity , all did Ray in. Not even a quiet try out. lol

She put her hands on him. Cant do that. The reason some women do that is b/c they know (they think anyway) that guys cant hit back because of public and legal implications. If men and women were treated equality in domestic abuse circles, I suspect, she wouldn't have been so aggressive.

Guy cant throw a hook like that though. If he just pushed her away he would've been ok.

Rutgers would never get away with this. You can't keep this guy.

Two Wrights make an airplane.

If you haven't done so, read David McCullough's bio on the Wright brothers.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of their first Kill Devil Hills flight. McCullough's tale spends considerable time on the events between that flight and their subsequent fame, which came several years later. There were only 5 other people on the North Carolina beach that day and when the initial claims were published (sparsely), nobody believed them. It actually took several years - and a European tour - for the brothers to convince the world that they weren't embarked on some massive fraud.

He was a 5 star RB in high school. Oklahoma "thought" they did the right thing by suspending him, which actually was only a redshirt season for him. They would never kick him off the team because they don't give AF. Football is all that matters to them. Sad

Disgusting. And if you saw what ESPN's sarcastic dick of a personality Brett McMurphy tweeted & deleted, he deserves to be fired too.

Nothing like trying to make a joke out of an already horrendous situation.

Crazy thing is that Mixon was the one who requested that the video be released.

you r an idiot

the young woman has some responsibility here but how this guy is still going to be playing football at OU is beyond belief. That was WAY over the top response. he wanted THAT released?

What Mixon did was brutal, disgusting and way over the top. But seriously what is the law if somebody is physically aggressive with you first? Does the law really differentiate if it is a 120 pound woman or a 250 pound guy? Obviously he inflicted a 1000 fold more damage on her then she could ever on him, but what amount of force is fair - she touched his neck for crying out loud.

I know there are a lot of guys out there who would never put there hands on a woman out of anger, and instantly lose all respect for any man that does - I get it. My point is I've seen so many more woman hit out of anger or get into situations that guys know to stay away from because guys know things can escalate and get physical. This of course is not every woman, but I feel there is a mentality out there that some woman feel like they are immune to ever being retaliated against physically and therefore do things and get into situations they have no business in.

So back to the Mixon situation - is pushing her away with the EXACT right amount of force OK? Does he just stand there and let her keep beating on him? Again Mixon was wrong, but that young lady definitely bears some responsibility - she was the physical aggressor (as small as she was) and under no circumstances should she, or anyone else, be putting their hands on someone else out of anger and expect not to be retaliated against.

If Ray was 3 years younger he would have gotten another shot - the NFL's moral compass is based heavily on what you can do on the field.

Seems like a great reason not to have equal pay.

Now I don't agree, but I think what people are saying here is if you put a man in place of the women in this video, how would you then perceive the situation. So I can see their point with the equal rights debate.

You can't demand equal rights in some situations and than not in others which don't benefit you. Look at the facts, she hit him and grabbed his throat 1st. A man does that to you and you hit back. However, I was taught you never hit a women, this kid's parents apparently never taught him that etiquette.

How about a equal response? aka common sense. Stop trying to defend a wrong with another wrong.

Sure this is technically "self defense" but it's hardly justified self defense. For starters, it looks like the young lady spit on and pushed mixon. Mixon responded with a heavy right hook, far from equal. Second, this is a ~120 pound human being against a 200+ pound individual. That push did nothing to mixon and he had complete control of the situation. There was nothing equal about this situation.

Haha, Santa taking flight is the only thing good that happens after midnight. If you can teach your teenage kids anything, teach them that. Funny, she probably saved the little dude's life. I swear he was being sized up for a KO shot.
