Joe Paterno (merged threads)

The victim, who was identified in court records as John Doe 150, said that while he was attending a football camp at Penn State, Sandusky touched him as he showered. Sandusky’s finger penetrated the boy’s rectum, Doe testified in court in 2014, and the victim asked to speak with Paterno about it. Doe testified that he specifically told Paterno that Sandusky had sexually assaulted him, and Paterno ignored it.

“Is it accurate that Coach Paterno quickly said to you, ‘I don’t want to hear about any of that kind of stuff, I have a football season to worry about?'” the man’s lawyer asked him in 2014.

“Specifically. Yes … I was shocked, disappointed, offended. I was insulted… I said, is that all you’re going to do? You’re not going to do anything else?”

frankly im tired of all this paterno stuff and just want to move on...I noticed that mcquery specifically mentions Schiano in there as seeing something as well...opens up a whole new can of worms

Again, it stuns the senses that PSU people are so freaking naïve that they think it is impossible that Sandusky worked for him for decades and he never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever had an inkling something was off about his DC until McQueary told him about it is 2001.

I find it hard to believe a young boy who was bold enough to tell other players, coaches and Joe Paterno himself about this alleged abuse would then be too timid to tell his parents, or a teacher, or any other adult. Obviously, I cannot put myself in the mind of an individual going through that type of trauma, but his initial actions don't seem to suggest he'd be afraid to tell others. Also, from Paterno's viewpoint, it would have been pretty damn bold to dismiss a kid who had the guts to come forward in that fashion as someone who would never tell another soul, and thereby exposing Paterno's coldness toward his allegations.

To believe the 1976 allegations is to believe at least 10-15 people were aware of what happened - people that the victim now can't remember, nor can he remember what he told them exactly - and chose to do nothing, and none of them could be produced to corroborate the allegation. I suppose reasonable people can disagree here, but I'm still in the camp where uncorroborated deposition is just that, and miles away from proof of anything. Instead, and this is regardless of what the actual truth is, you're about to watch "journalists" piss all over the profession's grave today accepting it as fact.

Case in point - people like you are the problem.

PSU posters on this board showing their true colors above. It's absolutely sickening how morally oblivious you guys are in the comments you posted above and it proves how the fans and school have learned nothing. You keep spreading lies saying there's nothing new against Joe. Do you realize how clueless you are as to what you sound like?

LOL at the PSU people now pointing out Schiano and Bradley apparently knew and are trying to shift the conversation towards them.

So let me get this straight. Schiano knew. Bradley knew. McQueary knew. I am guessing if those three knew they weren't the only assistant coaches who knew something was off or not right with Sandusky.

But apparently the guy who ran his program with an iron fist, had nary a clue about Sandusky for decades and was caught off guard by allegations in 2001? Yeah right.

I've seen stuff in my day.

Horrible stuff. Blood and gore and guts and unimaginable stuff.

I think this may take the cake. The lead thread over on BWI covering the latest Sandusky developments isn't just chock full of denial that "Joe knew".

There are people who are claiming - still - that the whole thing never happened. They're comparing it to the McMartin Day School case and the Duke Lacrosse incident. In other words, there are people on that board who are saying that Sandusky never molested anyone and that all the victims are lying.

We need to ban BWI members from this site. Frankly, I'd be all in for a grass roots effort to get Penn State thrown out of the conference. Their fans are disgusting.

There are some sick mofo's over there. And they wonder why the rest of college football hates them. It's not just B1G, it's all of the country.

a lot of people knew. A lot of people know.
Through first hand and second hand accounts, Id say thousands of people knew or had heard of sandusky stuff while it was happening. Players knew, assistants knew, people in pennsylvania knew, guys in the nfl knew, rutgers fans know, pitt fans know.. And nobody does anything about it other than point fingers and keep themselves as far out of it as possible.
An assistant coach hearing about what sandusky did wouldnt do shit about it, and neither would most of the people in this world. Stop pointing fingers!

I'll just say that while the BWI boards are despicable, I'm certain that there are others who represent their community more positively. Don't judge the whole school by the people on those boards.

I can't bring myself to read that garbage. Thankfully, most RU fans are responding to the news that Schiano knew in the right way. He's just as bad as the rest of them and is complicit in this disgraceful child rape cover up.

yes, thats right. We let innocent people get hurt all over the world every day and we don't do anything about it. This is the same thing. I just want everyone to stop pretending for a second and stop looking for blood just for entertainment's sake. Schiano is for the most part a good guy, he just happened to be a young coach worried about building his career at the time. Im surprised he and Mcqueary ever had the guts to tell any of their superiors what happened. I promise, thats way more than most on this board would have done.

1) WHY did you do that to yourself???

2) I'm sorry you did.

3) They truly, truly are "sick mofo's" as BOski puts it.

I don't judge them by their rivals posters. I judge them by the fact that I don't know a single person from NJ who went there that I wouldn't characterize as either an a-hole or a brat.

This also all points to a culture where nobody was to do anything more than tell their boss, and apparently, to NOT go to the police or authorities. I wonder who would have been responsible for THAT culture. Hmmmmmm. That said, anyone who witnessed heinous acts and thought it was OK to just tell their boss is disgusting. Any human being with any shred of scruples would have stopped the acts immediately, gone to the police and resigned in disgust if nothing was done about it.

enjoy your day, fellas....should be a lot of fun
Do you really find all of this funny? You think it's okay to make jokes? There is nothing fun about this.

Just took a quick look, pretty much what I expected and what I've seen before over there. Anyone who refutes them, even other PSU alums/fans/supporters, gets shouted down and insulted. And the victims are all liars and money-grabbers.

In addition, I love how they tear down the victims who were kids at the time this happened to them. Can you give a clear account of a traumatic situation that happened to you 20-30-40 years ago when you were a kid?

Edit: Added in RU4Real's post as the context of this was lost when someone merged all of the threads.

If we were being honest, we would admit that we are just jealous of their football success.

I'll give you all the cliffs notes version since there are literally hundreds of pages:

No new allegations involving Joe Paterno. The deposition of the 1976 victim claims Jerry Sandusky abused him (I'll spare you the details here) in front of other football campers, and the victim then told other campers and coaches, but cannot remember what he told them or who he told. He then says he spoke with Paterno directly, and Paterno was dismissive, . . . .
Oh boy.

Seriously. I think NJ PeddState fans are worse than PA fans.

the thing that bugs me when reading their board in the distant past on this, is when defenders say that Joe, or any of them, reported it to
the authorities, and that was enough.....they did nothing to stop it other than reporting it...

I guess if your own child went over to a neighbors house, and you found out that some adult there was abusing your child, you tell someone of authority and then let it go if nothing gets done.....let your kid play there......really outrageous....

"get hurt" is a matter of degree. Everyone is free to draw their line where they want. If some are called scumbags for that, too f*cking bad.

As the father of 2 young boys, I draw my line here. You know about child rape and do nothing, you are a piece of sh!t. Period. Deal with it.

Paterno, the man testified, just walked away.

P.O.S.
I'm sure Joe has "walked away" from lots of crap like this over the years.
