This is not a call to fire Goodale post. However, If Jordan Burroughs was interested and available to Coach Rutgers, he would be an excellent choice to replace Goodale. JB is not only New Jersey wrestling royalty but worldwide wrestling royalty. Obviously, JB would be a boon to recruiting. Most current recruits grew up idolizing JB as he was winning gold medals. JB has credentials similar to the likes of Cael, John Smith, David Taylor and Zeke Jones. To be fair Goodale has grown into the job coming as a high school coach with zero college coaching experience.

One area that is not discussed but where Goodale is an abject failure is the recruiting of diverse athletes and coaches. JB would definitely help with the recruitment of diverse athletes. Besides Glasglow, the Van Brills and the current recruit Gibson no other diverse athletes come to mind.

I used to think never but I honestly think he’d take the job if y’all made him a Taylor like offer ,I mean he’s coaching youth wrestling like 45 minutes away , he clearly wants his kids to wrestle in NJ he just got caught trying to sneak them into nj states, he isn’t making anymore world teams and he has way to big of an ego to just fade away into youth coaching with a yearly appearance at NCAAs he definitely going to coach at some point I think he’d love to play the savior and come home and “save Rutgers”

Problem is I don’t think the school or donors care enough to give him all he’s going to want because stepping up the RTC would be a big part of that and that costs $$$. Just like the Iowa /penn state /ok state situations you’d need some rich guy to step in and pony up a good amount to get things flowing

Burroughs has repeatedly said he doesn’t want to be a head coach
I performed a search and there is not one single article and/or interview where JB says he would not want to be Rutger's head coach. I guess if you repeat something enough you can claim it is a fact. Frankly reading your posts over the years reveal very little insight about wrestling. However, you do spend an inordinate amount of time protecting and making excuses for the coaching staff. Your take on Joe Pollard is "interesting" to say the least. You are obviously very close to someone on the staff.

JB has said he's not interested in college coaching. He was on staff at Nebraska for 1 year and that was enough for him

Not sure about publicly but it's well known in the wrestling circles he's not interested. And Rutgers has tried getting him FYI
Tried getting him as an assistant coach maybe , they sure as hell didn’t offer him the head coaching position, the man thinks he’s gods gift to wrestling if you want him you need to give him the keys and total control, no offense to Goodale but an Olympic gold medalist isn’t going to take a back seat to NQ from lock haven, that’s just how JB mind works

I don’t have a take on Joe Pollard so you’re confusing me with someone else. If you want to show me anywhere where I’ve said anything “interesting” about him, I’d be open to discussing it but I know almost nothing about the guy. If he’s here, I support him like I support anyone else affiliated with the program.

You never called Pollard one of the most respected assistant coaches in the B10?

Would have been nice to get Snyder from Nebraska.
Maybe he will reconsider?
Yeah, good luck getting his wife or any wife to change their mind. We didn't get him because he didn't want it, rather we didn't get him because Mrs. Cornhusker has never left the state in her life nor has any desire to.

Do you think?

Looks like David Taylor at OSU is going to start a trend of young accomplished guys coming in to coaching college ranks. We better get on board before we’re passed up 👀

Don’t fret, SCNJ said the program is headed in the right direction. Don’t forget about our big dual win. 11th ranked dual team. But probably can’t even compete in a dual meet tournament for some reason…
You’re right. Everything is bad and we should fold the program.

For those wanting Dake:

I heard him questioning it but not eliminating it. Regardless, I don't believe Rutgers would offer what it would take to get him or provide the support he would need afterward. It seems everyone is still looking at coaching in the traditional manner instead of thinking out of the box. The challenge has gotten greater with NIL and the needed fundraising. I think the job needs reorganizing to accomplish all needs better. Our experience with Rutgers administration tells us they don't know how, aren't serious, or aren't capable.
