This one should eclipse Dickinson $$$ and might be the biggest yet. Rutgers won't be involved. He is from New York and one should believe that Pitino will back-up the Brinks Truck.

Is this the guy who was supposedly staying at Penn for his business degree and wouldn’t transfer until next off season?

I vaguely remember thinking wouldn’t have to worry about that name until next off season from a prior thread.

Here's my problem (one of many, mostly psychological): Jordan Dingle did really well in a specific circumstance. He was a star in a team oriented system, that ran set plays for him. Take him out of that and there is no guarantee he will flourish. Spenser was a shooter and we could be pretty sure that translates anywhere, but there is so much more to Dingle that it makes his overall talent less of a guarantee. It's far easier to play at 6'3" in the Ivy. Unless he is getting a truck load of NIL and has completed his Penn BA, I would say it is a mistake to leave a situation where you are playing, doing well and are happy for a situation where you might get none of those.

He's a good player and is athletic enough to play anywhere. RU doesn't need to be involved here, we have enough guards.

In terms of Dingle, he has to weigh taking his chances of the NBA draft, or cashing in at the NIL level 1st, then the NBA. Why not do both if you are Dingle??

Can he be the 3rd or 4th option on a great Elite 8 type of team, or does he go to St John's and get to take 15 to 18 shots a game, on a retooled Pitino roster??

It's rare that teams don't have a starting SG in place.

I am a huge Cam guy. He and Dingle are not in the same sentence. He turns a very good Duke or Michigan into a last weekend team. He creates. Is a spot up shooter and can rebound. And yes,he always said he wanted the coveted Wharton degree.Watch his highlights. He is an NBA player.

Is Dingle on any boards for mock drafts?
Ivy League basketball is good but there is a reason their last pick was in the 90s

he is a lifetime 34.7% 3 point shooter playing in the Ivy league where he isn't seeing the length he would see in power conferences. he is also 6'3'' which is pedestrian these days.

His rebounding stats are less than what Cam's are/were.

I am sure he will make a team better somewhere. Let's not make him the next Andre Iguodala yet.

For this year? No, not that I've seen. He's very old.

The deadline to declare for the 2023 has already passed (April 23rd).

Is he supposed to be a NBA draft prospect?

When I posted about Tosan one person asked if that was the name of a disease and 2 others said he wouldn't make the Rutgers starting rotation. Tosan would have been the best player on this last Rutgers team and Dingle would be the go to scorer on every Big Ten team. And yes,he is an NBA player.

Even if RU had room to take a Dingle on how much more NIL firepower do we have?

get a Berry to transfer as well

2 left from St John's 22-23, Soriano and Traore
4 from Iona, leading scorer and 3 role players
1 transfer from tOSU, VMI, UMass and VaTech/UConn
And Jordan Dingle.

Dingle only moves them from 83 to 71 in T-Rank projections. Pitino will need time to figure out how all the pieces fit together, wouldn't want to be a Big East team once conference schedule starts.

Does St. Johns have a great business school?

Wasn't the story he was not transferring because he wanted his business degree from John's. He would potentially transfer next off season.
Now he is transferring to St. Johns?

St John's does not have anything close to Wharton. I still think there is a 50% chance he is in the NBA in September and if not St John's should dance, but are not close to a Natty contender.

50% chance? Based on what?
Do you mean in the G-League?

He wasn't invited to the NBA Combine.

I believe you previously said you 'knew a guy' who said the Pistons had him on their board (No indication of where on their board). So 1 team maybe is possibly considering him at some point.
KYK knew a scout who said RHJ would be a 1st round pick or something. I'll stick to actual facts like over 120 players were picked by NBA front offices to be evaluated.

Could it happen? Sure anything could. Clif could surprise everyone next week and end up a 1st round pick too.
I would put the odds at both much much lower than 50%.

And don't bother with another private message. I don't really care how many HS coaches you know or money you got for Rutgers. None of that matters or impresses me. Especially when you've appeared to be wrong about Dingle every step of the way.

A lot of hype on Dingle was muted because nearly everyone has a capable Shooting Guard, so they are a dime a dozen. Pitino and his 1 year rebuild makes sense, because he and maybe one other major program are turning over their entire roster. There wasn't a real market for him, coaches are not moving off of their shooting guards, usually their best player, for Jordan Dingle AND paying him a ton of money. Kids who can play multiple positions, shoot, score, pass and defend, are much harder to find and keep on your roster via the portal.

Tape shows he's athletic but St John's is a safe landing spot for him.

This merits a respond.Hawk knows as much about Dingle as the man on the moon and has never seen him play.He was offered by 30 schools, including Texas,Oregon,UCLA,Indiana and Kentucky and would have been the lead guard at most of them. He has had at least one very solid NBA workout to date and if he doesn't make it this year will next. I saw him 20 plus times in person. My goodness.

What Hawk knows and understands is the people who make the decisions on who makes the NBA combine and the G league combine evaluate NBA talent for a living.

I am certain that you do your job a heck of a lot better than someone who doesn't do your job for a living.

.......and 2 guards area a dime for a dozen.

Dingle is probably going to be great for St John’s but a 22 6’3 guard out of the Ivy who isn’t much of a playmaker and scores only at ok efficiency isn’t exactly going to get NBA teams lining up and down for him.

Dingle sounds like a prime candidate for a friendly board bet, although I don't know what the stakes would be. Over/under X minutes/games played in the NBA in his career.

Whether or not someone is a desirable transfer in college hoops has close to nothing to do with that player's appeal to NBA teams IMO. If Edey was in the transfer portal, every coach would be interested. He is not likely to be drafted in today's NBA game. Dingle showed he can score a lot of points in the Ivy League. Let's see how he does in a tougher conference. Still, with his measurables and at his age, there's no guarantee he will ever be drafted IMO.

Last time we had one of those bets, someone was supposed to be getting a vasectomy. Anyway enough with all of this Dingling-around. The guy went to Penn, is now going to St. John's and his dad went to UMass. Has nothing to do with us.

I'd be happy to make a friendly bet based on his NBA draft results.
I'll ask to wait until after his NBA Combine performance to really get a good idea though.

Oh wait.....

RU72 is the Ivy League ambassador of all players and coaches and 2nd on that list are any Big East team and UConn.

Not every Ivy League player is better than Power 5 players or start on Rutgers, even Tosan, Mr Princeton or whatever he is or isn't. Meanwhile, we have seen or read about more about Rick Pitino about to take over the CBB world, on a RU board of all places.

Nothing is going to bring RU back to the stone ages or playing Ivy League schools like Princeton and frankly it's 2023. Time to move on my friends and enjoy the new age of RU sports.

Yup. That pompous, look at me SHU fan has welched on his vasectomy bet and a $10,000 bet. And I may have overlooked a few. Freakin welcher.

Board bets = waste of time.
