Not a bad call, though Odin is quite a bit taller. I don't recall Underwood ever running the wildcat - I remember Lovelace, Sanu, Deering. Are you talking h.s.?
He was the first to run it for us as a RFr. He played QB in HS. Schiano saw he needed to be on the field and he was not quite ready to play WR. The only difference in my analogy is Schiano ran the pro style offense and Underwood had almost no chance to play QB. Oden certainly has a chance to play QB in the spread. Either way, kid needs to be on the field and getting more touches next year.
You got all of that info off of 8 passing attempts? That's right 8 attempts all season in his freshman year and you've come to your conclusion on his career as a QB. That's one helluva quick hook if you ask me. I'm glad your not our QB coach.
Some kids arrive at college in nearly fully developed bodies. Others really come into their manhood at college. And most get bigger and stronger right up to their mid 20s. Height growth generally ends between 20 and 22.. and most of that additional growth is in the upper body.. but girth and muscle mass can go beyond that.
I think Oden has some room for meat on the bone and he is due some. I think he needs explosive power in his legs. That will help with everything.. running and throwing. He needs that sprinters explosive power so he can sit back in the pocket and when he decides to take off that it happens instantaneously. 0-60 in nothing flat. With that on his side he can be patient and stride into his throws.. which will put that zip on the ball.
