you obviously don't like him and that is OK.
This what JWill is......
1. Guy who has accepted his role coming in to the season and decided to come back
2. Guy who gets along with everyone, liked by everyone and doesn't blame others or pouts
3. Guy who plays harder than most on the defensive end
4. Guy who is our point guard and generally looks for others and doesn't hunt shots
There is a ton to kill JWill as a player. Like you it doesn't sit well in a loss he is hamming it up with the crowd after fouling out. Be fair he is far from a selfish player. He plays hard and is more apt to play hurt or sick.
The selfishness with JWill is not just what he does during plays (he has dribbled the ball and just pounded it into the floor way too much this season for anyone’s liking). Regardless, the selfishness comes in with the histrionics, the amazement at every time he is called for one of his CLEARLY AND OBVIOUS bad fouls every game, his on court happy go lucky schtick with opponents and refs, and his overall look at me demeanor like the dude thinks he’s the main character in a film that we are all watching. He is so far from providing Captain like leadership, his antics on the floor, if anything, set a tone for young guys like Lathan, Ace, Grant, that says react like me every time you hear a whistle from the ref.
I don’t see how he has any leadership abilities, does not set any type of example, and rarely do I see him go over to a teammate to provide encouragement, teach or assist them, or even scold them when necessary or needed, such as last night when everyone took the 2nd half off. Maybe he does, but I don’t see it through 25 games. Is this Pike’s job also? 100%, absolutely, and he sucks at it too. But a good Captain, is an extension of the coach while on the floor, in the locker room, etc.. Being perfectly honest, the players like him I am sure, but probably don’t respect him as a captain. Leadership from Head Coach, Coaching Staff, Team Captains, Players is obviously missing on this team, enough that it gets pointed out more than once on the broadcast/postgame last night. JWill is a part of that void in leadership, he’s not most responsible as that’s Pike, but he’s a part of it.
