Hearing about his pregame and half time clowning around, and seeing his constant smiling and laughing when they are losing has got me sick of him. That doesn't even include his totally out of control play, his ball hogging, and his awful shooting and constant falling down. Cut down the number of kids that play and begin with him. I don't mean bring him off the bench. I mean stop playing him altogether. If he quits, he quits. Start taking control of the roster. The season is pretty much lost so let JMike have the opportunity to get better. Hell, he's already better than him at almost everything anyway. The kid played three really good games in a row so lets cut his minutes - brilliant. Give Derkack more minutes as a backup also. It will make him more ready for next year, he is a tough kid, and we'll probably have a better shot at getting his brother.

Agree about JWill. Don't agree about Derkack.

Really needed to replace him in the off season, no one cared to listen. Need to offer real minutes to get real players in the portal.

Agree with JWill to some extent , but not derkak. He is actually a worse , less athletic version of JWill who thinks he’s better than he is . He, like J Will overdrives without a plan but unlike J Will, can’t get his shot off or make any shots at all. Oh and his defense stinks and is worse than J Wills. Both are bad but Derkak is way worse. Hoping he transfers down a level again but not confident about it

Last night was the least athletic and worst defensive team we will play all year. They were undermanned so it’s no surprise anyone looked good offensively. Hell Acuff looked like Steph on the first half. It’s the year of Jwill that has been bad.

JWill may be a nice kid and enjoys playing basketball and smiling away.

But unfortunately he’s not very good (considering how many minutes he gets), plays out of control and low IQ basketball, and he has never seemed seem like the type that wants to win at all costs and lead a team of young freshman.

Maybe I saw a different game....JWill was the least of our concerns last night.
Jwill has been a distraction and net loss for 2 years. He was asked to be a leader and have the c on his chest. He took that to mean I flop around and play me first selfish basketball while clowning for the camera. May not have been the “main concern” last night but his body of work lead to the dismantling last night. The transfers and freshmen see him getting rewarded with minutes and realize there is no accountability within the program.

He’s the best defender on the team by far. Sometimes too aggressive or careless and fouls, but is the only one who doesn’t play matador D. The only one.

Selfish as in dribbling into pressure. Selfish as in taking the air out of the ball on most possessions. Selfish as in passing as a last resort. Selfish as in playing for the camera versus playing for the win. Selfish as in not being able to finish. Selfish as in not being a leader when called upon. Do I need to keep going.

And yes Ace and Dylan have shown to be selfish but there is a greater risk/reward and a much higher ceiling with their talents and abilities to score. So you accept their selfishness. Jwill should understand that he is not the main event and realize he was needed to be a glue guy. He is best case scenario 4th 5th option not primary.

you obviously don't like him and that is OK.

This what JWill is......
1. Guy who has accepted his role coming in to the season and decided to come back
2. Guy who gets along with everyone, liked by everyone and doesn't blame others or pouts
3. Guy who plays harder than most on the defensive end
4. Guy who is our point guard and generally looks for others and doesn't hunt shots

There is a ton to kill JWill as a player. Like you it doesn't sit well in a loss he is hamming it up with the crowd after fouling out. Be fair he is far from a selfish player. He plays hard and is more apt to play hurt or sick.

I’m not saying he’s not a good citizen. Take your feelings out of this. This has nothing to do with likes.

1) what role did he accept? He’s supposed to be a captain and leader yet as others besides me have pointed out he’s leading the youngsters away from success
2)great he gets along with everyone. Exactly my point. He wants to be everyone’s friend a play to the camera versus positively leading by example.
3)give him that plays d. But is the first to throw someone under the bus when he gets beat.
4)Tell me again how a pass first point guard averages 2 assists/game over his career. Not what I would be looking for in a point guard. Shit Dylan doubles him up in points and assists and he’s auditioning for the NBA.

1. He was the primary point guard with sole PG duties and was counted on as the primary scorer.
2. Do you really think he cares about looking good on camera? Stop it.

1) So his role this year is primary scorer and PG? Then what is Dylan’s role. Primary scorer over Dylan and Ace? That’s just crazy. As I said he is nothing more than a glue guy and should be 4th/5th option.

2)Do you watch his antics? This has been discussed ad-nauseum on this site after multiple games this year and last. Why does he flop and flail multiple times a game? I’m not even getting into his ill timed laughing and joking in multiple blowouts and bad losses over the years.

last year that was his role...he sacrificed that coming back

flopping and flailing is an antic?
give me a giddy jWill last night who genuinely appears happy out there 100X over Harper that didn't want to be out there and was sighing all evening

Yea I guess your definition of accepting and sacrifice are different than mine.

Yea flopping and flailing are antics.

I can give a shit if someone is happy and smiling. I want someone that puts team and winning first. And neither of the 2 referenced have shown that in recent outings. But I can tell you I have experienced bad team morale and usually it is brought about by bad leadership and captain ship. And Jwill is not a good captain.

The selfishness with JWill is not just what he does during plays (he has dribbled the ball and just pounded it into the floor way too much this season for anyone’s liking). Regardless, the selfishness comes in with the histrionics, the amazement at every time he is called for one of his CLEARLY AND OBVIOUS bad fouls every game, his on court happy go lucky schtick with opponents and refs, and his overall look at me demeanor like the dude thinks he’s the main character in a film that we are all watching. He is so far from providing Captain like leadership, his antics on the floor, if anything, set a tone for young guys like Lathan, Ace, Grant, that says react like me every time you hear a whistle from the ref.

I don’t see how he has any leadership abilities, does not set any type of example, and rarely do I see him go over to a teammate to provide encouragement, teach or assist them, or even scold them when necessary or needed, such as last night when everyone took the 2nd half off. Maybe he does, but I don’t see it through 25 games. Is this Pike’s job also? 100%, absolutely, and he sucks at it too. But a good Captain, is an extension of the coach while on the floor, in the locker room, etc.. Being perfectly honest, the players like him I am sure, but probably don’t respect him as a captain. Leadership from Head Coach, Coaching Staff, Team Captains, Players is obviously missing on this team, enough that it gets pointed out more than once on the broadcast/postgame last night. JWill is a part of that void in leadership, he’s not most responsible as that’s Pike, but he’s a part of it.

Funny how this is your take after last nights game, when one of our star players looked like he has checked out for the season, and didn't want to be on the court. Clearly you we were not watching the same game.

AND give DERCACK more minutes? That just shows how clueless you are.

Only been to a couple games this year but saw him in warmups before UCLA game after it was pointed out he was making a mockery of warmups. It was a fkn clown show. Trying between the legs windmill dunks. I wanted to walk out, combine that with some of the most out of control/worst fouls I have ever seen and then constantly falling down, I can't with this guy

One of our best defenders on the team....
If this was GG or Hayes or Acuff the response would be they should never see the court again and that middle school kids don't fall for a jab step like that.

I was leading the JWill is over rated chant all off season, and now you guys are making me feel he isn't as bad as you all say!

The kid tries. He's very good in the mid range. He's not a guy I would want as my PG or as a shooting guard. He's not big enough to be a defensive wing. There just really isn't a role for him on a well rounded team.

Agree, this is an odd time to single out JWill, played a decent game and made 6 out of his 9 shots. This loss falls mainly on Harper for his effort, or lack thereof. JWill played about as good as you can expect him to, Harper played well below what you can expect him to.
