4 star OL decommitted from GTech and said that he's interested in RU but hasn't heard from us. In today's Hunt's article, he says something to the the effect of "I don't know what RU is waiting for."

I guess Ash is too busy with Fiesta Bowl planning. Teams with new coaches like Miami, VT, UCF and USCe are meeting with him today and tomorrow.

Can we let the guy we put in charge or running our program run the program without second guessing him?

He was introduced Monday. He has been calling our current commits. He is down in Florida today visiting Pollock and I assume Sneed. I am guessing he will also be visiting with Manning.

Just relax. He literally has not even been on the job for 72 hours yet

Our coach is in Jacksonville today. I am sure EJ gave Ash Johnson's address.

So have new coaches at VT, Miami, UCF and USC. Difference is that they aren't splitting time with their old jobs
 
Pass on this kid. He made up the entire GT story where he was harassed by a GT police officer within the Stadium.

For those who don't know he along with family members tried sitting in a section that was off limits for family. Only the recruit could sit in the section. When he was asked to show his ID he purposely turned it around so security could not see it and his parents were asked to leave. He refused and then cried harassment and that he was asked to leave the game. You can find he details online. Long story short is he created a scene and it was completely his fault. No thanks for Johnny Drama.
 
man you guys are crazy. First he's had an RU offer forever. Second, if he had committed to us rather than GT he would have been called already. Third, if he planning on taking all his visits there is plenty of time to call him.

Chip - I've met the kid multiple times watching Rutgers games down in Jacksonville with the Rutgers club. I've only had the pleasure of reading your posts - don't know you personally. I'm gonna give the kid a pass on this one. Good kid. Good hard working mom. Good brother. Just saying that something doesn't add up.

You do realize Ash will be down to see Pollack today right. He also stated he only has one in house visit and would like to do it with his coordinators which he is in the process of trying to put together right now. He is an I dotter and T crosser don't think you have much to worry about

exactly, just like people were upset he hadn't reached out to recruits prior to being officially named coach.

Yep too busy planning OSU's game plan but not enough time to contact RU recruits.

Flood is being crucified for not offering French from NB even though his only other offer is Pitt. But Ash gets a pass for not reaching out to 3/4 star recruits.

Double standards anyone?

Recruiting dead period starts in a few days. Might be a good idea to call him and tell him if the new coach still has a standing offer and schedule an official; before someone else closes him.

Johnson could have taken us up on our scholarship offer. he did not. he can wait a few days until ash sorts out his affairs.

Both side have their story, I'm sure G Tech wants to squash any possibility that their police might have racially profiled a black athlete considering the highly volatile racially divided society we currently live in, the truth probably lies in the middle. You mention Gtech side of the story and his side is that he went to get some food and security wanted to see his parents tickets, he came back show them his recruit lanyard and they claimed it was forged.
 
When Mulchahey introduced Schiano on December 1st, 2000, he said Greg would start right away because he though it was important to not lose a recruiting season.

When Hobbs introduced Ash, he said he thought that Ash's insistence on finishing the season spoke to his character and that we will get good PR from him being on TV for OSU.

Whatever happens this recruiting season happens. Is it ideal that every other staff is hiring assistants and moving on recruits? No. I just wish Ash would hire at least one coach so that person could be going on his behalf.

But I like the hire a real lot even if this start is excruciating slow in a very, very fast moving and dynamic time for recruiting.

Flood has had months to do squat with our recruiting class

So now we're even passing on kids because of some kind of minor drama? That's sure to keep us competitive with teams taking players with far bigger issues...

Thats basically Gtech's side of the story. I believe it mostly went along the lines that his family wen't into a non-recruit seating area and security approached the parents while he was at the concession stand. I posted what is believed to be his side earlier in the thread.
 
Passing on this thread because of a dust up with some possibly over zealous stadium security guards seems crazy. If this wasn't the only incident where there were problems with Johnson, maybe, but one incident over seating?
 
He has been on the job for roughly 2 full days. I agree with the comments above. His staff should be hired and announced, and recruiting class full with 4* commitments. I don't understand what he is waiting for?

Yes this is over the top

BUT if this coaching thing didn't happen we wouldn't have the second guessing that's sure to occur. Right or wrong the second guessing will be there.

The part that makes it worse is they have Luke Fickel who presumably will be sole dc next year who could finish this year out and leave Ash free for RU. Yes loyalty matters. But once you sign with RU there is loyalty there too.
 
I would not get this immature kid. If he wants to come here, borrow grandma's car and get his butt here. Then if they stop him at the entrance, get pass them like he is on a run block and break down Ash's office door and beg. If he is above doing that, then pass on him. He is not worth it.

Sometimes I think threads like these are bad as it gets on a message board then I remember that nothing really changes over time. It's amazing how a segment of the fanbase can get so lathered up over one recruit.

It happened with GS too. Remember Michael Meggett? The board went nuts saying we should offer the guy because a poster on here with ties to the family kept lobbying for it. He grey shirted at WVU, never played there and I think wound up at a smaller school. Everyone relax. I'm glad the new coach is doing his best to meet with the recruits who actually committed to us in the first place.
