Kareem Walker tweet

why doesn't someone go through the top 20 recruits in NJ over the last 10-11 years and put a % on the number of guys in the league that stayed at RU or went out of state?

One of you guys can run those numbers. What is the result?

No, I think to comprehend the full nature of the problem one needs to expand that to include the last 50 or 60 years. That should illustrate the full nature of the problem Rutgers is facing in recruiting the elite players in New Jersey....no matter who is the head coach or recruiting co-ordinator.

after four pages of responses to Walker's tweet about representing the state, It would be interesting to see the response if Walker said something actually negative about New Jersey or Rutgers.

What would be the the response to an OSU kid going to Michigan tweeting something derogatory about the Buckeye's program.
Doubt it would be grin and bare it, so get off your high horse.
I don't have a reason to go to the Rivals Buckeye site, but an sure everything would be peaches and cream if a kid from Ohio went to another B1G school and tweeted he was going to rep Ohio while at ( insert B1G school)

Remember Kyle Kalis out of Lakewood , Ohio ?
Ohio State fans threatened his life after he chose Michigan and implied Michigan is going to get more from the State of Ohio.
So take your implied insult back to your own board and talk there about the Ohio HS players Harbaugh and Meyer will be fighting over.
Or tell the board members there : how proud you are of Kyle representing the State of Ohio , while playing for the Wolverines

No, I am talking about the tweet where he implied that kids that leave the state do better than kids that stay in the state. Well, this may or may not be true. What % of kids that stayed in state did well and what % that went out of state did well as represented by playing in the NFL. Not a perfect picture as many can have great CFB experiences but not have the ability to go to the next level. One could look at the top 20 kids each year in NJ and see what % went pro and then do the same thing with the % of RU kids that went pro.

I happen to think, his tweet is flawed but don't have the data to support.

In fact, make it easy, do 2006 through 2010 NJ recruits who stayed in NJ and what % went pro versus % of all D1 programs.

Madhat1, here's the difference. Walker said he can represent Nj, even if he leaves. There was nothing derogatory about either the state or Rutgers, unless there's more than mentioned in the OP.

In comparison, Kali's said in reference to him now playing against Ohio State, "There will be blood on the field and it won't be mine." That looks like a challenge.

Can you see a difference? And even that didn't create the same number of responses. Players leave Ohio all the time for many programs, including Michigan. OSU fans actually like to bring up that Michigan wouldn't be as successful if not for Ohio raised players, and will mention them by name.

Outside of Kalis and Desmond Howard, you really don't see many negative responses aimed at the individual player who left the state. For Howard it is because of his "Heisman Pose" in the Game and some of his comments on ESPN. I'm not saying that some don't resent those who leave, but it's not a very loud voice.

One more think Madhat... Relax.

What I think is OSU fans are not as nice as you make them out to be and doubt you consider any Ohio kid would be representing the the State of Ohio that helps the OOS program he's playing for beat your Buckeyes. Let him say he's repping Ohio in a tweet and I'm sure Buckeye fans will
be saying the same thing RU fans are saying in this thread.
Plus I'd bet the talk about Ohio kids playing great for Michigan is only to degrade the talent Michigan has in its High School programs.
Probably when many OSU supporters mention their names they put would be back-ups at OSU, good enough to be starters at ( name OOS school).

I'm relaxed , but not so relaxed that I can't tell what you're trying to sell is pure Buckeye BS.

I'm not saying OSU fans are nice or are above being nasty. In terms of myself, Find a post that puts me into that category. You attacked my comments.

It is true that OSU fans as a whole don't get as upset when a top player leaves for another school in another state, is in large part because there are always other 4-5 Star guys being recruited. Walker still might decommit as he visits Tennessee. That would be a loss, but doesn't change anything for next year or the future expectations as far as the team is concerned. We are fortunate as fans and we know it.

RUsilencer, the Desmond Howard hate is because he publicly says things against OSU. We also understand that it is a mutual, dislike as a result of the rivalry. Outside of Kalis who again directly challenged the Buckeyes after his decommit, name me another Michigan player from Ohio that OSU fans vocally and publicly dislike. We may root against them and dislike them as competitors if they are instrumental in beating OSU.

As far as Walker, I still find his tweet pretty benign. While he chose not to go to Rutgers, he's still propping NJ.

The only factual statement that Walker can make is that he is repping NJ HS Football. How can he, with a straight face, say that he is Repping NJ just as much as Gary Nova did?
