Kevin Boyle - M.A. (FL)

Anyone who says a high school coach is qualified to coach the X's and O's of a college team does not know basketball very well

Boyle would be ground zero on this

And I said this about bob Hurley sr for the past 25 years

Boyle as an assistant. Yes!

Head coach...not without college experience
I really don't think that this criticism is fair for Boyle. If you look at how many top 10 teams he has had and top 10 teams he has gone against, he is coaching basketball at a much higher level than just to dismiss it as "high school" I'm not saying there wouldn't be a learning curve, but I don't believe it is as dramatic as you think. His recruiting advantages far outweigh any coaching learning curve.

I agree that going from coaching at the HS level where you have a gorgeous HS in Florida that ace players go for free to coaching RU in the Big Ten is a huge jump for Kevin Boyle .

Get big time talent in college and you win in college. The guy has been coaching forever. He will be fine. Yes a huge jump. He will get quality asst coaches around him He will be GREAT HERE

I don't understand the hesitation over a guy like Boyle. Mind you, if you think he's sketchy, then fine. But just because he's a high school coach? He's essentially a college coach already. Is he at the very top of my list? No, but that guy turned us down to make the jump after next year. But in comparison to most everybody else? I think people are incredibly underrating the level of coach that Boyle is.

There are two things to a coach ... can he coach? Can he recruit? So I ask. Which of these reasons would (in your mind) be the reason that Boyle would struggle at the next level? Or are people just nervous because there's a passage you should have taken to become college head coach?
