Oh yeah, he is the top QB in the B1G. Right. There are four teams in our division who are 2-0. CL is 0-2. Do you really think any other team wants CL for their QB?
Besides being 0-2 and 1-3 FBS RU is ahead of only MD in points scored. And they fired their coach.
Wake up! Completion percentages don't win football games.
Ball control does not win football games unless your defense is lights out.
Why do you think the hot teams in college football like Oregon (not this year) TCU, Baylor etc. emphasize offense. The goal is to score more than your opponent.
RU is scoring 22 points per game and giving up 27. We don't need a QB who completes 70% of his passes, we need a QB who scores more points than the defense gives up.
Someone please pass this message on to HCKF.
What's the old saying....statistics are for losers. Laviano had a good game but Cook had a bettet one and won as he made several great throws to his very good receivers.
An item of note....no catches by any of our tight ends or backs from the stats on saw on line. Did we even throw a screen pass?
He's clearly not the best QB in the B1G...obviously. He played a really solid game against MSU and deserves credit. He made some good plays with his feet. He made good throws and took care of the ball. For those that argue about arm strength, etc. His biggest problem is that he doesn't set his feet properly on many plays and isn't always balanced properly. That takes velocity off of the ball...he needs better coaching on that. I think his best attribute is he doesn't seem to get too flustered and "frightened" out there. He will be going into a tough stretch of games and he is going to get knocked around pretty good...we'll see how he responds.
Wait until this kid gets a year under his belt.
two drops, three tight end drops, two by Scarff(?) in the last minute. None in first three quarters. What's the old saying....statistics are for losers. Laviano had a good game but Cook had a bettet one and won as he made several great throws to his very good receivers.

Bingo! While CL didn't lose this game (even with brain-fart spike), Cook stepped up and won it for MSU, just like a legit QB should do.What's the old saying....statistics are for losers. Hey HCKF, your soph QB in his fifth game is putting up great numbers against the 5th ranked team in the country having a potential first round NFL senior QB. Good coaching!Someone please pass this message on to HCKF.
LOL ESPN? You mean the guys that tried to tell us that Christian Sackenberg is the greatest QB in the history of college football and a lock for #1 overall pick?
Gotta love our fans: they'll take any opportunity to tear our kids down. Nice job!![]()

It NEVER ends, from Teel to Nova to Laviano. Being a Rutgers fan is tough...other Rutgers fans make it even tougher.

This was explained to you last week and apparently, you still cannot grasp such a simple concept. ESPN's ratings are their "Total Quarterback Rating", or "QBR" and they list Laviano in 6th place (http://espn.go.com/ncf/qbr/_/group/5). Nationally, Laviano is ranked 64th in ESPN's QBR (http://espn.go.com/ncf/qbr/_/page/2). Laviano has the highest NCAA passer rating, which is NOT an ESPN rating system. You only claim it is an ESPN rating because that is where you discovered the information. ESPN considers Laviano an average college QB.

Team got outscored 24-10 second half . Rutgers went 3-12 on third down and MSU went 11-17. Rutgers D just (once again) couldn't come up with the 1 big stop when needed. Although that long 3rd and 10 catch was a the killer play by the WR for MSU. D wasn't terrible on it at all. There are your stats of the game. Great game. TEAM just came up short. 1 more score and 1 stop. Ballgame.This. I would slightly change it to we need an offense that scores more points than the defense gives up. Laviano is not responsible for the performance of the offensive line.
I would bet a lot of $$ if HR came in and had the same exact statistics that crown would be screaming "told you so".Gotta love our fans: they'll take any opportunity to tear our kids down. Nice job!![]()

"Laviano has the highest NCAA passer rating......"
I
Listen I never said nor thought that Laviano was the #1 quarterback in the Big Ten. Or even ONE of the best.
But I root for a program that has had limited success with its quarterbacks. I don't think we've ever really had a NFL qb. (Please don't mention Ray Lucas.)
Not a big NFL career, but wasn't McMahon in the NFL for a year or two? Also, I am drawing a blank on the name (McDaniel ???) had a number of successful years in the CFL.
