Win out, finish #5 in Big Ten

The Fosters City Bowl took Maryland over us in 2014, and we ended up in Detroit. Even though we beat them. Even though they don’t travel at all. Ever since that happened, all bets are off, because the bowl selection process is opaque. Suits will go into a room, and they’ll figure it out.
That’s essentially the bowl selection process.

For our optimal bowl, we have to win out. Otherwise, we could easily end up in Detroit again.
Al has it. Bowls get a choice of teams. They can take who they want. Every B10 that's bowl eligible is likely to be picked before us. It's not about wins, it's about who brings the most fans and who has the biggest name. We can be three wins better than Michigan or Nebraska, they will still get picked first. The Rate is about the best we can hope for. If we didn't play there last year we'd be back to the Chokestripe Bowl.

Hoping both Nebraska and Michigan do not make Bowls. Both at 5 wins.

Just recently we were #17 out of 18, just above Purdue in the standings. We are now #9. Illinois is #5. Beat them!!

So, just to hear someone tell me to focus on Illinois
If we win out and win our bowl…
9-4
Does that get us ranked?

No - Minny isn’t a brand name and there’s no way they would travel to North Carolina better than us. He must know that. I suppose they might get picked ahead of us if they have 4 league wins vs our 3 though even with the head to head, but that wouldn’t be a given. We beat VTech while they lost at home to UNC.

His projection also requires Michigan beating NW. I left that off.
I believe the 2-game rule is in play? A team with 1 win difference over RU can be chosen over us and vice versa, but contractually I’m not certain. A team with 2 wins over us in the B1G would certainly get picked before us. RU is a better draw than Minny or even Illinois IMO.

Win tomorrow be looking at 7-4 with MSU left, it’s Charlotte, Citrus or Phoenix. At 8-4 throw music city in the mix potentially.

I think we will know a lot more Sunday morning after the Illini game, just my opening…

Many Bowl Projections have us in Phoenix. That would be terrific.
