Lax Exhibition v. UMBC

Our department needs to get much better at putting out social media. Other programs have scoring updates on Twitter.

You wouldn’t even know we had a game if you looked at ours right now.

Looking forward to it rufamily!!

Re social media, it is weird Cali. We should at least act like a top 10 team and that people care.

Not only do RU fans care but we are on the radars of lacrosse fans in general with our recent success.

Definitely an area Pat needs to bolster.
Don't think this is on Pat but on the Coaching staff, RU wrestling is fantastic on Twitter all the time, at tournaments they post what mat RU wrestlers will be on along with scores & hi lights of matches, so it is being done for other RU sports already.

You will see that during the regular season with lacrosse, and it isn't the coaches. It's a group within the department doing those updates.

It's an unrealistic expectation to have a coach do that. They are coaching. Grabbing an iPhone and giving continuous updates isn't happening. And the wrestling coaches aren't doing it either. Someone in the department is.

They are just dropping the ball on lacrosse unless it is a real game. The coaching staff does what they can, but they aren't there to post content on social media. They are there to recruit and coach.

Other peer schools are way ahead of the game here.

I did not expect for the Coaching staff to do any texting, just like you did not expect Pat Hobbs to be texting about Lacrosse, but the coaching staff could have student managers or other students involved with the team dong the texting. I doubt that the Athletic Director needs to be involved with this & it should be the individual sport that makes sure it gets done like with wrestling.

Absolutely incorrect.

Coaches at peer schools don't manage this. It's a SM group within the department. It's who is doing those updates during the real games. They just aren't doing it during scrimmages. They are dropping the ball.

I love Pat. Best AD we've ever had. I am sure he will get to this. But it does need to be fixed. There can never be enough content put out.

Maybe their is a reason that they are not posting updates

Rutgers women's soccer posts game updates on twitter. How did the scrimmage go?

Hey, sorry it took so long, starters were the same as last week with Michaeli at defense and Vercruysse at attack. UMBC played a very slow and deliberate offense which is what I expect to see out of teams that can not run with us. Overall our defense played very well only giving up 3 goals in the first half when both teams had there starters played. Rutgers was doing a lot of experimenting with their midfield lines all day and in the 2nd quarter they replaced Vercruysse with Ryan Schnacte, I thought he created a spark as we immediately got a couple of good chance at the net. They played 6 different ssdm including giving Nordhausen a shortie for awhile (kind of interesting to see a kid 6'7" play with a SS). We saw for the first time in a scrimmage Tommy Coyne (Joe Peterson did not dress again) he played on both the 2nd middie line and at attack we saw Freshman Ryan Gallagher play for the first time also and you can see why they like him so much. At one point the offense had 1 senior 2 sophomores and 3 freshmen playing at the same time.

Overall, the scrimmage was very similar to last week's as both teams made a concerted effort to slow RU down and it worked for the most part, I feel like RU's goal was to work on the ir 6v6 offense as they prated 6v6 and emo and mdd after the scrimmage. You have to remember that all coaches go into games with different agendas in term of what they want to see and I do not know BB goal for yesterday but for me the defense looked solid again as did the goaltending, and the offense still needs a little developing, which is not all that surprising as it is early in the season.

Finally, next week the team opens withRobert Morris who plays a completely different style than either of the teams they scrimmage. RMU wants to plays at warp speed, they carry around 18 Canadians which means that the will be a dangerous team but it also means that we will be allowed to play more of the kind of game that suits us right now. It should be an excellent high scoring fun game.

I will answer questions as I see them but, If it is something that is not public or might hurt the team I won't

Thanks for the detailed summary rufamily, that was a good read!! It sounds like our offense isnt where we want it to be yet and hopefully our defense keeps us in games until it is.
