Great! Because they will be 15 young men who will have bought into the New Culture and are ready to become True P5 Players.Even better that will give us the potential of having 35 schollies available for Coach and his Staff to hand pick and reel in those players that will fit into their plan. All of this chaos will be over in 2 days and then "The best is yet to come"(part of a Tony Bennet lyric)RU:football:ROCKS!!

are you counting the Early Enrollees (4) who have clearly bought in ... and Ross Douglas - who has spent 3 years at Michigan & had first hand experience with a program in upward transition.

The issue is that recruiting classes are capped at 25 regardless of the number of schollies available. That would mean relying on JuCo and transfers, this is what happened when Greg Robinson took what was left of Cuse football and truly created a dumpster fire. They couldn't fill the roster spots and went down to 50 scholarship FB players for a couple years.

I understand your point but on the flip side there would be a concern down the road with so few upperclassmen especially along the LOS. Look at what happened with the DB's this year. OL and DL would seem to me a bigger problem with the need to grow and get stronger in the S&C program.

Traditionally schools would fill holes like that with JUCOs. We have been told numerous times that is something very difficult to do with RUs admission standards for JUCOs. Grad transfers may be able to fill a hole here or there but nothing more.

The '17 class will have to be a major coup for RU.

This is what I hope for. I don't want Ash to panic and recruit more "diamonds in the rough". Find players that will fit in his system and that are ready to compete in the Big10

Not entirely true as he could sign 40 kids next year if 15 were EE.

Well let's see. According to Duggan we have 67 returning scholarships, add 4 early enrollees and we get 71, plus the graduate transfer makes 72, then add your 15 LOI and you get 87. We are only allowed 85. So, if we expect some kids to transfer out when they realize they do not fit the new system and playing time may not happen that will allow for this staff to look for some juco or other grad transfers. Overall I expect we will be fine considering the circumstances.

Right now there are only 14 commits INCLUDING the EEs.

I have no problem with more grad transfers, but it seems like RU only gets 1 per year.

I think 15 includes the 4 EE's. I don't see RU having a total class of 19 at this point. If you count the EE's in the 15, RU gets two new commits and Moore does a post grad year here you have 85. It'll probably be less once summer camp starts because every roster has transfers out.

The 15 commits I added in are in reference to the OP's thread title asking what happens if we get 15 on Wed. I am aware that we do not currently have that many.

Scholarships are allocated by "equivalency" - they do not have to be allocated in full.

In 2014 the football team had 81.57 scholarship equivalencies, but 97 players receiving aid.

if we have extra ships maybe they can give to a couple of the better walk-ons.

For a few years we are going to be Purdue's bunkmates. Then maybe we climb to a bottom bunk with Minny or the Illini. Barring any unforseen disasters, which have become the norm, we may remain there for a while. As long as we get paid...:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It's gonna be a light class, but Ash is going to have a lot of scholarships to offer next year. Taking the good with the bad, he'll have the bandwidth he needs to assemble a monster class if he shows some tenacity in recruiting.

Not spending any time dwelling on this year's class, but if he doesn't turn in a top 40 class next year, he likely never will.

SanFranRutgers is dead on. Ash must kill it next year in recruiting. Otherwise with Flood's recruiting in 2014 and 2015 and with a light class this year, it would be almost impossible for him to turn it around. Ash may be a good X and O coach, but all the top guys in that conference are top X and O guys and huge recruiters. This year is what it is, but next year is enormous.
