Looking at Juco rankings

I hope you're right, but I have my reservations. Eugene is the only one of the 4 you mentioned that we can count on. Duke has been a non-factor and really looks lost in B1G play. How was he a 4*? Shaq Carter and Johnson are unknowns. I know Pike has given praise to Johnson, (similar to his praise for Eugene last year) so that's a great sign. And yes, coaching matters. I trust our staff will get it done, but how long will that take with these guys?
And let's not forget what Freeman brings defensively. For as much as his offensive game frustrates us, he really is rock solid on D.
You are crazy if you do t see the potential in Duke. He is oozing with talent. Easy 4 Star Big.

You asked how he was a four star big? It takes one minute of watching him play to see why he was a four star.

Really ?

Because it seems to take him 1 minute to foul somebody.

Not to say he's got no shot at getting better he does certainly but a 4 star player IMO should be making a bigger contribution than he does on a team like Rutgers.

Just to clarify some things, Carter is averaging 8.4 ppg and 7.0 rebounds per game. He shoots 56.5 % from the field, with no attempted threes. He shoots 62 percent from the free throw line.

His high is 18 points on 6 for 7 shooting and 6 for 8 from the line. He averages about 20 minutes per game with a high of 34 min.

Dang that means he won’t replace Freeman’s 3 point shooting

They need to not start Duke. He kills us early with two fouls. Let him see the pace.

I dont hate giving Sa the first few minutes. I think hes coming along.

Freeman does make mid-range jump shots though. But youre right, if he is a more efficient inside scorer at the very least Carter should not be much of a net loss from Freeman, even if he has no jumpshot (which who knows, maybe Carter will develop one).

I have been curious to this approach as well. Don't force Doucoure until he sees the pace of the game, his matchups moves. Then he will feel more comfortable.

@higgins3 its clock work every game. It puts us at disadvantage with Big man depth in the late stretch.

Sa i think has become more than formidable. Can hit that littl elbow jumper, is athletic, decent defender. Then sub in Duke at the 5-6 minute mark.

Glad others are seeing this. I see no net benefit to Duke scoring 0-4 points, a few board and 2 fouls in the first 4 minutes.

Really? Which minute? The one where he panics and bricks a 10 footer because he doesn't understand his role on offense? Or the one where he's committing a terrible foul because the game is too fast for him? Or maybe while he's walking back to the bench, because he does look good in a uniform.

Indeed. Very much matchup dependent, right? 6-8 minutes in sounds good. Sa has become a decent defender. I hate our bigs taking jumpers though, lol.
